Beware any stats used to back up that assertion. Our win/loss record in general has been much higher over the period since we first started playing at ANZ than the average win/loss record since the Swans became Sydney (and even before). So a comparison of the total win/loss ratio at the SCG and the win/loss ratio at ANZ will be like comparing apples and oranges.
The finals stats are definitely skewed for the reason you've made out as well."You get the feeling that like Monty Python's Black Knight, the Swans would regard amputation as merely a flesh wound."Comment

Have to disagree with you there. Let's look at all games played, including finals.
28 wins, 19 losses at ANZ = 59.6%.
At the SCG - for example - 198 wins, 141 losses and 2 draws = 58.1%.
Is that significantly more wins? Feel free to plug those numbers into the Fisher's exact test calculator.

I don't have the rabid hatred of ANZ that many do; been to some good games there over the years (Carlton final 2010 anyone?) But if I had to choose, it'd be SCG every time.Comment

The comparison of ANZ stadium vs SCG reminds me of AAMI/Football park vs Adelaide Oval. One is a fantastic stadium which is a destination that's walking distance to the CBD and an abundance of good food, drinking and night life options whilst the other is amongst nothing which has not a lot going for it at all. If AFL was still played out at Football Park I wouldn't have gone back there and I hear the same from interstate people who have been ANZ Stadium. It's dire, fans from all codes seem to dislike the stadium.
Unfortunately what ever deal is offered to the Swans will probably be an attractive proposition financially even though the club recognises it's not something the vast majority of fans support which sucks.

"ANZ stadium will have a state of the art roof constructed over it, solving some of the chronic problems with the venue. Seating will not change, however, meaning spectators will still be sitting the same distance from the field."
Hopefully the Waratahs will relocate to ANZ Stadium and this will reduce the importance and the attractiveness of the offer the stadium place with the Swans.

We should not complain about our grounds. Back in the 60's and 70's the Collingwood, Fitroy and Carlton grounds smelled like the game was played at the sewerage farm. St Kilda (Moorabbin) and Geelong were lesser than cow paddocks. Hawthorn was postage stamp size with no grass and Richmond no bigger. The Footscray oval and MCG were playable if it didn't rain. Dynamite to kick the ball to the cricket practice wickets at the G. South and St Kilda grounds were the only true wet weather grounds being on sandy loam. North ground; had to be moved to VFL ground Coburg one season it was that bad. ANZ is a bowling green in comparison.Comment

One of the best was the 2003 or 4 final against brisbane. We were no show but almost stole it.Comment

[QUOTE=barry;652639]Yes. Whem I recall the great AFL games I have witnessed, most are at ANZ.
Really most of the great AFL games you have witnessed have been at ANZ ?? Please take a moment to read your statement again and think am I really trying too hard to validate my opinion here?
I admire passion but your statement is that bizarre I feel you have gone past passion to paranoia.
Great AFL games can occur anywhere but it would be hard to argue against the MCG as being the scene of many great games over the years. You often get that with finals and grand finals after all it's not called the home of football for nothing!
So Barry maybe take a deep breath , step back assess the facts and then admit you may have been getting a little carried away with your post.Comment
