Have you ever considered that you might have some internal conflict between your defence of the common man and your infatuation with big corporations and media moguls?

I sat alongside the Common Man on the train back from Olympic Park once. He was wearing a Swans scarf with the price tag still attached and humming "Dear Old Collingwood Forever". Smelt of beer (me too) and I've avoided him ever since.

I'm sure the guy was drinking VB and not Stella. The fact that he was a Collingwood supporter with a Swans scarf demonstrates that he is aspirational.

It may take some time, but you will see that same gentleman checking the legs of a semillon in Paddington in five years time.

That is genuinely funny Matt - anyway I laughed!
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

IN theory 80,000 Swans supporters is great idea for a final...except the AFL stuff it all up by jacking the prices of finals up to stupid levels....instead of doing the obvious thing ie cheap ($20) tickets to encourage bandwagonners along to their first game...it being a final and all. :-)

Anyone got any idea what the crowd numbers will be for the game on Saturday? Like... when they bought tickets did they get a rough estimate of how many tickets have been sold so far?

They seem to be pushing discounted tickets so I'm guessing non-members are saving for the finals. Or don't want to go to Olympic Park.

BTW will the outside food stalls be there and open before or after the game?

Updated weather just then says chances of showers.

If it's a huge game and we can get in excess of 55,000, let's always do Homebush. Let's invite a wide array of people through the gates and make the Swans for all of Sydney.

I have to say some of the whinging about the effort to get to Homebush had been disheartening. We have to get as many people to the game as possible. We have Buddy and Tipp now. What's to say that we can't get over 75,000 to a major final at Homebush?

If people on the forum can't see that it's better to have 75,000 supporters at a final rather than 46,000 then we have issues.

Went to a Final against North Melbourne not so long ago. 25,000 turned up. Cracker of a game. But.....

That game never should have been played at Homebush, with North involved it was never going to attract a crowd.

I noticed in the finals pricing guide that Week 1 finals tickets are significantly cheaper than in Week 3 (for some categories, 50% cheaper!) So hopefully we get over 40,000 there next week. We haven't hosted a qualifying final in Sydney since 1998!

I was there too Primmy. Jeez that was a miserable night - and we won! I can't imagine what it must have been like for the handful of Roos supporters.

That was in the rain and the Swans team at that point were a team in decline. Adam Goodes was quickest player in the team and the rest of the midfield were taggers.

We now have pace, attacking flair, charisma and Buddy.

                              Things are different now.

Went to the Prelim against Brisbane in 2003/4? and there was 75,000 there - great atmosphere but we lost. Also in 2012 against Collingwood there was around 65,000 and that was a great atmosphere.

So we really need in excess of 60,000 to get the place humming. Doubt if that number will turn up tomorrow but hopefully in a weeks time against the Port Ferals/Freo flyers we should get a BIG CROWD.
