I also was at that game - I thought it was around 16,000. Terrible night and terrible game - the AFL did not promote the game and as Matt said the Swans were in decline big time. They were expected to lose but some big efforts by a few players resulted in a win.

Isn't Goodes still the quickest in the team? I thought I saw something earlier this year that he was faster than Jetta or Rohan in some time trials. Turning circle, on the other hand . . .Comment

Luckily Ted slipped on the slippery turf allowing Dusty to kick that goal; otherwise we would have won and spoiled one of the best stories of the year.Comment

If Bar Coluzzi could set up some Coffee Carts around ANZ, would more Swans Fans be comfortable traveling to ANZ?
If Jacobs Creek could set up some wine tasting stands around ANZ, would more Swans Fans be interested in travelling to ANZ?
If the Winery could take over the running of that bar at the Novotel for the Swans ANZ games, would more Swans Fans be interested in travelling to ANZ.
If you could set up some private ferries to Homebush Bay, equipped with a sit down Pete Evans degustation and matching wines, would more Swans Fans be interested in traveling to ANZ?
Just trying to find ways to make the inner-city Swans fans more comfortable with the ANZ experience.Comment

I live in Melbourne so I have no bias in the SCG v ANZ debate. I just want my team to play on the best possible ground.
From what I have read there is no NRL game next weekend so hopefully the ground can improve. Does anyone know if it is possible for there to be a rugby game there the week after?Comment

Don't really need it from someone purporting to be a Swans supporter.Comment

Having stands on wheels sitting over the wings, which leaves them sunless and dank, during days of rain,
then uncovering them a day before the match, patching with new turf where it wheels on and off...
It all adds up to.. No chance of anything reasonable being presented.
I'd like the AFl to deliver them an ultimatum, that an inspection will be done mid week and if the surface is sub standard, like last night, then it's back to the SCG....
Fat chance I know, but I can only dream.Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it's time to pause and reflect... MTComment

No self respecting Swans supporter would be caught dead drinking something so gauche.
I am also not sure if Bar Coluzzi obtain their beans from ecologically environmentally and ethically verified sources?
Seriously though what any Swans supporter should expect is a venue that is accessible, affordable, has an ability to generate some atmosphere and provides teams with a surface that allows skill not luck to be the determining factor.
I can't say for sure that Homebush ticks all of those boxes.Comment

That field was yet again terrible on the wings last night. Despite Barry's love in with the roof that is proposed, I still don't think it'll help fix that problem.
If the AFL is serious about playing games there, they need to work with ANZ and NRL to (outside of Finals of course) ensure they are scheduled where the field is given a good week after the latest Rugby game. That might help fix the surface issues somewhat.
Lets hope for some decent weather this week, as there is a good chance the surface can be pretty decent for the Qualifying final. Will be a mess more than likely for the Semi or Prelim however, given there will be NRL finals played there."You get the feeling that like Monty Python's Black Knight, the Swans would regard amputation as merely a flesh wound."Comment
