In terms of the last three points, I call bull@@@@ on your idea of 'fair weather' supporters.
- Not everyone is loaded Barry - for a lot of people, the idea of a 'Budget constraint' is very real, and they have to pick and choose what games they go to - even if they have entry covered by Membership.
- Some people genuinely do not like watching football at ANZ, and choose not to go. I fully comprehend how people come to such a conclusion. It doesn't make them 'fair weather' fans. Being a member of the swans doesn't involve some sort of signature in blood saying you have to attend every home game or else you'll be sacrificed to the great AFL god. People are free to prioritise what games they go to, and if part of that is that they don't do ANZ games, then so be it.
- The last one is exceptionally valid. There are a lot of reasons why people can't make games, and they are all reasonable. It doesn't mean they are 'fair weather fans'.
People have a life outside of football Barry.... or indeed for your case, a life outside of ANZ stadium
As for the turf and the stands. It doesn't matter when they rolled in or out - its the damage they do in the process that causes the problems. It was blatantly clear where the problem areas of the turf were the other day, and we've seen the issues with relaid turf in previous years in the exact same areas. The wings are always a mess at ANZ - hopefully a week without movement of the stands should see them in good condition for the game on Saturday. Teddy's slip against Richmond didn't cost us anything in the grand scheme of things - but I'd be pretty pissed if something similar happened and we lost a final, or dear goodness, a Prelim final as a result of it.
Ticket part of membership. Free public transport. Bring ypur own food and drink. Cost: zero.
Reality check #2.
Teddy slipped over no where near the movable stands. Has teddy never slipped over at the SCG?. Has sydney ever had a wetter august?Comment

Sydney people choosing not to go to the game because it is at ANZ Stadium and not at the SCG are nothing but fair weather, Chardonnay drinking bandwagon supporters that many supporters from other clubs are making fun of. A disgrace. This is the first QF since 1998 and people are making a stand where the final should be played. Unbelievable!Comment

I might be mistaken about where Teddy slipped on the field, but I stand by the point that the field was not fit for purpose on saturday, rain or no rain. AFL is not designed to be played on turf that was laid less than 48 hours ago.Last edited by mcs; 1 September 2014, 07:48 PM."You get the feeling that like Monty Python's Black Knight, the Swans would regard amputation as merely a flesh wound."Comment

Even when a massive renovation of a AFL ground is celebrated like this thread, the fair-weathers find a way to whinge.Comment

Look it may be a @@@@hole stadium with poor viewing and a questionable surface but it's pretty poor if you can't turn up for our sides first home Qualifying final in yonks, only because you don't like the ground. Turn up for the boys! Particularly for us Melb based supporters, it seems perplexing that you have the opportunity to see our team in a massive game in your city and you would forego that because of a dislike of the venue. I understand there is a multitude of reasons people won't be able to go, myself included, but a dislike for the stadium is an average excuse to not support your team in a huge final.Comment
