    NSW-ACT - AFL.com.au

    lads and ladies

just wondering if anyone has heard anything further re Isaac Muller 197cm and 101kg ruckman / forward

He is a bit of a Shane Mumford in the way he plays

Sounds like he had one or two games with the Bombers VFL team thru this season as well as dominating in the ruck for NSW ACT RAMS

Probably better business than trading established, quality proven players for pick one, which is what you've spent the last eternity trying to persuade us the Swans should do.

Just think, you'll be able to trot out west every other week to watch your fave, Petracca play.

Poor old Petracca, GWS or StKilda, what a wonderful reward for being the best in your year. If I was him i'd be spreading the rumor I had a dicky knee or something........

Isn't that what happens every year? The best player to the worst team?

You have to wonder why clubs puff out their chests and declare something certainly won't happen, and then turn around and do it a couple of days later. Do these club spokesmen not know it just makes them look very silly?

It's a risky move, in some ways, by GWS because they've sent a message to the rest of their young, interstate players that they just need to yelp and the club will trade them back home. And with Patton unlikely to play much next year, they are back down to Cameron in the short term as tall, powerish forwards. Suspect this means a Wright or a McCartin just moved up their list of draft priorities.

Probably can catch Petracca playing alongside Jed Lamb in some curtain raisers at the SCG.

They also have forwards McCarthy and Stewart who both showed good form in the few games they played this year. And Tomlinson makes a pretty good 3rd tall forward. No shortage of talent at GWS.

Boyd, one season 10? games gets a seven-year deal said to work out to net Boyd one million dollars a season? I sure hope the AFL attach the same conditions to that as they did to the Swans with the Buddy contract. That is, the Bulldogs wear the full amount in their salary cap whatever happens to Boyd (breaks down, turns out to be a dud etc.)

Still one day to go Liz. As we all know nothing big happens in trade week until Andrew Ireland announces it.

Having said that I don't think Patrecca will be coming despite what the Demon supporters are speculating on Big Footy.

Liz, I know there will be a meeting of the minds soon when we agree on a strategy to take the Swans forward.

I don't see how we can be out of cap space Ugg. We delisted Dick & Lockyer. Mal has left. ROK & LRT have retired. Membrey is looking to leave. There should be plenty of space. That would free up 6 spaces. We have drafted 3 so that leaves 3. Lloyd is being upgraded. That leaves 2. So even if Membrey stays we still have one. We can then upgrade Biggs & if Membrey leaves we could take another in the draft. But we don't normally draft past about 80. We normally wait for the Rookie Draft. I can't see us being over the salary cap. LRT & ROK would have bee on heaps. Mal would have been on around $400,000. So what about the others? Basic wage for Membrey, Lockyer & dick but all the Draftees are going to be on that money except Biggs anyway. So we should have plenty left over.

According to a guy in the know Buddy was on $380,000 a year at the Hawks during his 2008, 100 goal year.

This shows that it does not pay financially to remain loyal to the club who drafted you.

The financial struggles of the Jolly's demonstrates why it's important to take the great money when it's there.

Well done Tom Boyd. Manage your money well and your going to lead a comfortable life.

It's just pure speculation that the Jolly's have money problems. Maybe they just wanted a new Porsche. And who wouldn't want to keep their mortgage if it was funding five rental properties.

And maybe they would have been better off if he'd stayed in Sydney? I believe the Swans manage the players money well but not sure how that'd go for the Pies rat pack. Just the cost of their tats would exceed our salary cap.

Just for once...just ONCE, try not to insist on having the last word on every issue Matt.

It may just be my being an old curmudgeon, but I find it extremely irritating.

I'm waiting to hear the outrage about this Boyd deal just like we heard for the Buddy deal. Seriously how can someone who has played for less than a season be paid $1 million a year!!
