Missed this in last night's wrap
A trade sending Biggs to the Bulldogs and Liam Jones fell over on Tuesday, with the Bulldogs wanting more for Jones. Sydney would have received pick 46, with the Dogs taking Biggs and 58. The Bulldogs are now planning to take the Swans rookie as a delisted free agent, while the Blues are saying they can secure Jones in the pre-season draft.

I must admit that trade just doesn't seem to make much sense. St Kilda have one decent tall forward (OK, he's a lot more than decent but he's also near to the end of his career). Stanley seems to be their next best option and he's decent, if patchy. So I don't see why they would get rid of him. Until, of course, Geelong come along and offer pick 21. Then I can understand why they'd trade him in a flash.

They'd be silly not to...from all reports the top 7 or 8 potential players are all relatively even.Twitter @cmdil

If St Kilda do end up with 4 and 7, they'll have 4 picks in the top 21...is this right? Surely then they can afford to give us their next pick (which I'm not sure the number of) for Membrey?Twitter @cmdil

St Kilda should jump at the deal. They can get 2 top badly needed KPPs. In 2 years time, GWS#1 pick Petracca quits the club and gets picked up by the Saints in the PSD. Isn't that the way the system works?Comment

There was a rumour swirling around the Demons Big Footy page that the Swans were going to cut a deal to get picks 2 and 3!Comment

Just a hypothetical.
What happens to Buddy's contract if he decides to follow Jarred Hayne to the the NFL? Would it just be a simple cancelled contract?
Buddy is the only AFL player with the mixture of physical attributes to make it in the NFL as a non-punter. He would be an exciting wide receiver, with his speed and agility, but would need to increase his power.
He would be a handy punter as well as he can kick 70m off one step.
I believe strongly that he will stay in the AFL.Comment

This is just pie in the sky type talk....But I need to correct you Matt...
Other than punting. Tight End is the only other NFL position Buddy could play with any chance of success.Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it's time to pause and reflect... MTComment

Same as if he has a career ending injury or simply retires I suspect. My understanding is we don't have to pay out his remaining contract to him, but it would remain as occupied cap space for the remaining duration of his contract (which is what the bean counters at AFLHQ warned us about when we signed him in the first place).Comment

He is too light for tight end. He is around 225 pounds. NFL tight ends are over 250 pounds. Have a look at Vernon Davis. He is a good size for wide receiver, but would have to get used to those hits over the middle.Comment

GWS trade Tom Boyd to WB for Griffen and pick 6.
GWS now own picks 4, 6 and 7. They're bound to trade two of them for pick 1.
It's all falling into place!Comment
