Ludwig, I wouldn't have thought that wealth distribution would be a bell curve at all? With the recent figures it'd be a funny pointy bell, wouldn't it? (Population on the other hand, I believe is on a perfect bell curve trajectory, just near the top. I once asked a population geneticist what would cause the cataclysmic decline on the other side and he replied "I'm a statistician not a fortune teller but it looks like something will")

Bah, not political, it was otherwise you wouldn't have singled out walrus, the creatures our Environment Minister declares he wants studied in Antarctica. Maybe he meant polar bears?

Despite the Gaz and now Boyd offers I bet the Swans will always be thought of as the club with the ludicrous Buddy contract - even when he's earning the same as every other A grader.

I didn't think too much before putting in that note. The distribution would certainly be skewed and look more log-normal than normal, or perhaps best reflected in the cumulative distribution function of the normal distribution.

I didn't know about the walruses.

If Greg wants to study Walrus in Antarctica he's going tho have to drag one all the way from the North Pole. The same applies to Polar bears.

You'd think that, but over 15 years I followed ROK's curvy butt to the bathroom at functions on numerous occasions to no avail.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline

But beggars can't be choosers and with a thin list he could provide cheap and handy back up.

Must do the list numbers again to see how many spots we have to fill.
Where has this idea come from that we have a "thin" list? We came second last year, and if you can ignore the manner in which we came second (as opposed to first), you need a pretty decent list to achieve this. We have lost one player of note (Eski), given ROK and LRT weren't really part of the reason we finished 2nd. In addition to those who played in the GF, we have Mitchell, Derricx, BJ, Jones, Towers and (kinda) X and Naismith with senior experience. OK, those last two might be pushing things a bit. But we have Heeney, who I think will play senior footy in 2015 - how much I am not going to predict - plus the likes of Hewitt who looked very close to being ready at the end of last year. It appears Robinson is to be retained, and he's a solid and consistent NEAFL player too. I reckon the club thinks Naismith and Nankervis aren't far off being ready to make their first forays into senior footy.

Pretty much every untried youngster who came into the side at some point during 2014 stepped up and contributed something, indicating that Crouch and his team are doing a pretty good job in preparing their NEAFL squad for senior AFL footy. We also have enough younger, relatively inexperienced players who did play in the GF to suggest there is scope for improvement within our "best 22". True, we lack ready-to-go talent in the key defensive posts, but I don't think that equates to "a thin list", not when you compare to pretty much any other list in the competition.

I can't see what Petrenko would really add to the squad. He's certainly not going to add key position defence depth.

for me Liz re a Petrenko

              - 1 year signing

              - minimal money

              - if we have injuries around finals time like a Mitch Morton.......a Petrenko can come in and do a job as an aggressive finals style middle aged player with experience

              - I wouldnt want Robinson coming into the team in the final series if we had 4 or 5 players out in the midfield or small defender etc

              - We did get very lucky in 2014 re injuries

                  I agree with Liz.

The only pressing need for us is KPD back up....Maybe we'll dig one out of one of the state leagues.

Our ruck situation could be feast or famine.....

Depending on whether Derrickx can improve his game around the ground (He's already pretty good around stoppages).

And how much advancement there is in the 2 N's.

The only other area I think we need improving, is in a small, terrier like, forward role....

We have plenty of potential candidates on our list for next season, ie; B Jack, McGlynn, Heeney, and others, one needs to make this role their own.

I think some would argue that this is where a Petrenko fits in. But I am with you - lets work with the options we already have rather than a mediocre Crows discard.

Agree re a small forward will be important.........Jack and Lloyd combining in front of the goal in the 1st qtr and stuffing it was very sad compared to a Bruest or Ballantyne

I wonder what will be stopping a Brandon Jack from taking on that role in 2015 ?..........maybe only Adam Goodes ?

                      * BTW Adam Goodes stated recently that he is our small forward

Jetta or Cunningham for me. If BJ comes in, who goes out?

Plus horse only likes to play 3 pure forwards. So you are right. Either Goodes or another small forward.

One would also therefore expect that Goodsey's 2015 salary will be commensurate with a fringe-22 player....

Stanley from St Kilda to Geelong for pick 21

Gws acquire pick 7 by trading Jaksch, Whiley and pick 19 to Carlton

Now we wait to see if St Kilda will bite on the pick1 for picks 4 and 7 deal

I must admit that trade just doesn't seem to make much sense. St Kilda have one decent tall forward (OK, he's a lot more than decent but he's also near to the end of his career). Stanley seems to be their next best option and he's decent, if patchy. So I don't see why they would get rid of him. Until, of course, Geelong come along and offer pick 21. Then I can understand why they'd trade him in a flash.
