Ah thanks rb4x, of course I should not have counted Biggs. As I said, this is a vey confusing time of the year ........! Yes Naismith as the one further upgrade makes sense.

Interesting how the top 3 clubs have forsaken the draft, with the Swans now sitting with the highest live pick of the 3 (#39). The Swans have opted to take younger players through the Academy. The Hawks got Frawley and O'Rourke, but lost Hallahan. PA opted out of the draft for Paddy Ryder (probably a smart move, given their young list).
Hard to assess who will do best in the long run.Comment

Not sure the Swans have exactly opted out of the draft. It's just that we got to take our players a couple of months early (and specifically, our first round pick). He's still an 18yo coming into the club.Interesting how the top 3 clubs have forsaken the draft, with the Swans now sitting with the highest live pick of the 3 (#39). That's what I said. We took academy players in lieu of live draft picks. I was pointing out that the top 3 clubs have gone for certainly over taking their chances in the draft lottery.Comment

List changes and trade bait
I have been thinking about that point and feeling quite good about. It seems as if our only 'unknown' might be one draft pick. Given even by the end of the season we were still learning how best to play with Franklin and Tippett in the team (exacerbated by their respective injury-time out) I think investing in our own young players is a promising and encouraging thing to do.
I am still very angry about the trade ban but mostly because of the associated implication of COLA cheating rather than any actual inhibition for this year on trading in.
If only we could have held on to Mal ...... But even his departure has an upside as it will almost certainly ensure the opportunity for Mitchell to prove himself over a long period of senior games.Comment

Most pointless trade in the history of trades...should have let him take his chances in the PSD.Twitter @cmdil

Don't be grumpy - think about the bored Swans team sitting there for days watching all the other clubs, heads close together whispering furtively as they engaged in clever negotiations, while our team twiddled their thumbs .... No wonder they leapt on this trade!Comment

and that means Membrey to the PSD. Wish our fringe players would stop picking the wooden spooner as their "preferred destination"!Comment
