Jolly- 28 start of the next season. Coming off an excellent year, played tough position to fill. Contracted, but wanted to go home for personal reasons. Pick #14 & #46, from memory Collingwood played hardball and only relented with an extra pick late in the piece. *
Beams- 25 start of the next season. Former AA/Club B&F, better and younger than Jolly but arguably an easier position to fill. Contracted, but wants to go home for personal reasons. Pick #5 & pick #25 + possibly a further swap of later picks- and that's not good enough?

I wonder if GWS accepted #19 for O'Rourke so they could move it for Patfull and the Lions will use it to up their offer?

*Also the year they refused to improve on an offer for Ball, who was about the age that Beams is now, and he went via the pre-season draft.

I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

Kennedy has got three more years on his current contract. He is currently in Bali with a stack of the other senior players at Benny's wedding so I doubt he is plotting ways to break that contract. I wouldn't lose any sleep over these rumours. Wishful thinking by Hawthorn fans still delirious from their GF win.

I'm warming to the prospect of Schoenmakers...the Hawks have basically said he's on the table if the price is right.

If we can improve our pick 39 via trading Membrey to the Saints then that pick could be enough...their first live pick is currently at 43 and they've said they're hopeful of trading back into the draft.

He's 195cm 95 kg, former first round pick, great skills both sides of his body. Struggled in 2014 but was returning from an ACL...confidence seems to be his biggest issue but a new beginning could be the perfect solution.

He'll be able to play as the third tall to begin with which would probably suit him and he's also shown the ability to play as a forward.

He could be the next Ted Richards!

His comments at the B&F weren't those of a guy thinking of leaving anytime soon. "I love this club". "I can't think of 22 (or 44) other blokes I would rather run out with each week". "I can't wait until pre-season"... (or words to those effects)

            Griffen requested trade to GWS...wow

            - - - Updated - - -

I see this as a huge win for the Bulldogs, who will likely get the Giants first pick + more to add to their already huge young talent base.

Might also see them push harder for Reid now that they'll have an extra top 6 pick.

One KPD name that has not come up is Michael Talia of the WB, the 21 y.o. brother of AA Daniel. He's only managed 3 games this year, 16 in total, in a team starved of key defenders. WB willing to offer a big contract to Tom Lonergan would make you believe that they don't think much of Michael. I wonder if the Dogs would go for a swap for Membrey, especially if they land Lonergan. Should we be interested, just to add some depth to KPDs, although it would seem fairly obvious that Talia is not quite up to AFL standard at the moment?

Yeh would be worth a shot if we can get him cheap...then in a year or 2 we might even lure big bro to come and join him in the red and white

Obviously every circumstance is different, but has the Buddy move started a movement where jaded Victorian players want to move North to non-AFL state teams for privacy and a normal life. It's great for the four Northern Clubs.

If GWS add Griffen and Patfull to their best 22 next year that is a fantastic outcome for them. They have enough kids they can afford to not pick high this year.

Pick 4 + 7 for Griffen looks a great trade for the Dogs when compared to what is being offered by Brisbane for Beams, 5 + 25. But it would mean a complete rebuild. They might as well trade Cooney, and withdraw their offer for Tom Lonergan. A big problem will be the huge amount of salary cap space opened up by this. Where will it go? How will they meet the 95% minimum? There may be a lot of young players getting big contracts.

Pick 7 is not correct. That is Carlton's pick.

They have a lot of room in the cap, but they can seriously front end some contracts and have some free-agency fire power in the next two trade periods.

I hardly see the fact the captain of your club has requested a trade with one year left on his contract to be a huge win. Something doesn't smell right down at Doggie land.

There is strong speculation in the media that Carlton will trade Pick 7 to GWS for Kristian Jaksch and GWS will on-trade that pick to the Bulldogs as part of the deal.

Carlton are using pick 7 as part of the Jaksch trade

Two top 7 picks for a 28 year old is a win in the age of F.A where players of that age are often walking for nothing.

Obviously from a marketing perspective losing your captain isn't ideal but if they can bring in 3 more kids that are potential guns then the future is looking okay!
