YouTube is great for watching Petracca. That 92kg of power, bursting through tackles, clean hands, accelerating away from packs, laying tackles, brilliant overhead, and a 14.11 engine (Lloyd engine).

His kicking did not look as good as Malceski, but nobody is perfect.

Just like a hero of mine, Sir Alex Ferguson, I'm backing the youth. He always backed the youth and he always won.

I want to watch the Swans build the next Dynasty.

So which games did you watch him play, on YouTube or via any other medium?

It's the five minute Youtube clip. I think it may have been against WA.

I've been reading the articles on him and following the fitness testing.

I like Patrecca, but I'm probably more in love with the idea of pairing him with Heeney who is another quality midfielder. Call them Patrheeney. You then get two more young guns in Mills and Dunkley.

I think there is far less doubt when selecting midfielders compared to key position players.

I know deep down you see my vision Liz. Particularly now that established players from other clubs are not an option.

I think Hanners is a good player but is ranked behind Keenedy, Jack and Parker as a midfielder.

So Matt, this is what you imagine to be Liz' vision.

Well I'm on board. It's a brilliant player retention scheme, and very PC.

This is far too flattering Auntie. I will have to work hard now to live up to your expectations.

                .
My "vision", if I have one, is that we should be building a team around the established players at our own club, who are very much "an option". Established players who have already earned All Australian selection, for example. And particularly those who, age wise, are just about to enter the prime of their footy playing careers. Not shiny new toys where the allure is the wrapping paper and the batteries haven't even yet been tested.

Yep, fair to say our "visions" are pretty different.

Theres a really good movie about drafting players based on stats and footage viewed on the internet, its called "Trouble with the Curve". Its about baseball but the principle is the same.

Ahhh Matt what on earth are you going
to drive us nuts with when the trading and draft periods are done and dusted?

There will be some articles on Buddy having a Golden Summer on Bondi Beach. There be Buddy in the Bird Cage and at special article of at home with Buddy and Jesinta in the Women's Weekly Christmas Special.

I'm waiting for Buddy to slam the Australian Rugby Union over the Kurtly Beele affair. That should happen late next week.

Hmmm looks interesting, but prefer Money Ball myself.

Hi guys, I've been bush for a couple of weeks living off the land without any modern communications. What the news? Seems like we lost Malcheski, have we traded anyone in to replace hime?

At a time when the club is being unfairly ostracized, vilified, slandered and victimized at every turn by the AFL Junta I don't think this is a time to be trading out players like cattle.

Most of our players are incredibly loyal to the club and there is a huge amount of developing talent coming through as a result of good management , player development and good recruiting with bloody low drat picks (NOT COLA). I even think this could be a blessing in disguise and assist in bringing the team together in a way that we wouldn't have seen otherwise. Loyalty and camaraderie are valuable assets in a competition that seems to be losing its soul.

I even hope we re-rookie Dick and Lockyer and keep our recycled player to a minimum (although I like Gwilt) because I think they have unfulfilled talent that could be very useful down the track.
We have them where we want them, everything is going according to plan!

I understand fully the position on Hannas and the arguments to keep him. I don't understand the pressing need to keep Craig Bird due to our depth in his position.

As stated previously it seems Longmire only wants to play three slower inside midfielders. The incumbent starting three are Parker, Kennedy and Bird. A lot of people believe that with a full pre-season and an injury free run that Tom Mitchell will be ahead of Craig Bird in 2015. I don't think you can play Kennedy, Parker, Bird and Mitchell in the one team due to a lack of pace and break away speed.

This would lead me to believe that Bird could be on the verge of some NEAFL football in 2015.

You also have Hewitt and Heeney who are very good inside midfield prospects waiting in the NEAFL. Zak Jones looks like he has an appetite for midfield shut down jobs as well as playing back.

Is Craig Bird essential in 2015? Will an early to mid 2nd round pick and some salary cap relief be a better option?

I know that player loyalty will be very important to the Swans over their two year trade ban, but it should be remembered the Roos tried to trade Jude Bolton!
