Its true though. Our home is the inner city. Like when Easts decided to call themselves sydney roosters, they were in no way representative of all sydney and their fan base was all eastern suburbs.
I am happy with keeping sydney in the name but the reality is they represent one area of sydney and not all.
We can debate semantics all you want.Comment

I personally know 1 person who supports the Swans and lives in the inner city, I'm probably the next closest and I'm in Epping, by claiming the Swans only represent the inner city you are undermining the years long effort by the Swans to be Sydney's team
Just because their home ground in in the inner city does not exclude the rest of Sydney
The Roosters are a different story as they are one of many Sydney based teams and one of 2 arguably 3 teams that could represent the Sydney CBD.Chillin' with the strange QuarksComment

Jpk's attitude is justified as the actions of the swans agrees with it. An inner city club.
I can't help feeling the swans have been played though. Couldn't they wait until anz plans are finalised? . and 30 years.? What's to be gained by locking for that long?.
Anyway, soccer is now looking to expand its use of ANZ, so at least one code is progressive.Comment

Why would the a-league risk moving to a stadium like homebush? The wanderers are perfectly happy for PS to be there fortress and FC are more than happy at their home ground, the SFS. If anything the homebush stadium will be used for future internationals, as it has been and thats about it. And judging by how many internationals are played in Australia it translates to 1 or 2 games a year if that.
The problem is?
SCG is our home ground, always was and always will be. When i think swans i think the SCG.
Homebush is a symbol of all that is wrong with modern day stadium deals.
BUT saying that at least its being used as opposed to many stadia built for the olympics and then discarded or left to rot.Comment

Your main issue is that your ANZ stadium membership is basically worthless with what it gets you and how much you pay. You are now left with the option of just watching NRL games (in an empty stadium) and thats about it. Oh yeah T20 cricket if thats what you're into.
And you pay a massive amount for that privilege.Comment

Another thread where some people take it upon themselves to define what Swans 'fan' means, and allocate a weighted 'rights' system in reference to one's ability to comment on things.
The word 'fan' obviously comes from 'fanatic'. Having football as a priority in one's life is not a good thing. It is actually very sad. Trying to compete for the title of biggest fan is actually an exercise in self-mediocrity.
Having said that, it is a good game that warrants recognition as great downtime. Although.....now that I know for a fact from recent events and industry insiders that Eddie MacGuire runs the AFL, I can't even say it is a good game anymore.
If people say they are a Swans fan, that's good enough for me to understand their disposition on a range of issues."Take me down to the Paradise City where the grass is green and the Swans win pretty."Comment

It would not be progressive at all to continue with an experiment that the vast majority of the Swans community don't support for countless reasons. The outlined plans for the stadium will not fix everything wrong with Olympic park. The 30 year deal is probably the best financial outcome for the club and the SCG is the home of the Swans, makes a lot of sense.Using TapatalkComment

The Swans represent the original South Melbourne team that relocated to the Sydney Metropolitan area with their home base/ground being located in Moore Park with fans living in ALL parts of the Sydney Metropolitan area as well as the rest of the Australian mainland and whatever place on our planet. They are not representative of only one area of Sydney as espoused by you.Comment

Don't give me a history lesson please, i know everything about my club.
I am just saying they have been based in the same area for 33 years, the eastern suburbs of Sydney. As much as we think they represent the whole of Sydney, they don't.Comment

Just drop the city name and stick with the nickname..but then it gives it a perception that the brand is ready to relocate ala american franchises.Comment
