I reckon 50% is a good starting point considering the time and financial investment by the club

AFL Commission to make call on new father-son and academy bidding system soon - AFL.com.au
Article posted on the AFL website, it leaves it up in the air whether or not these changes will be implemented for the upcoming draft. I was under the impression that it was definitely coming in for the 2015 draft it was just a matter of getting the details rightTwitter @cmdil

Will be farcical if academy picks don't receive a higher discount than father sons. It @@@@s me when you have highly respected footy people like Leigh Mathews and Tom Harley trying to explain the virtues and benefits of the northern academies, only to be drowned out by a fathead business man with a massive audience who has no consideration for the greater good of the game! Id love to see Tom or Leigh or both sit on a live AFL panel show with Eddie and school him on the benefits the academies will bring to the whole game. For a guy who said the reason the game is going downhill is because there are " too many spuds " due to the diluted talent pool, to question the legitimacy of the academies is mind boggling.Comment

I find it "amusing" that
'Hawthorn president Andrew Newbold said earlier this month the revenue-sharing tax would reduce all AFL clubs to "break-even" organisations.'
and
'Collingwood president Eddie McGuire told the club's annual general meeting earlier this month that the AFL was trying to pick the club's pockets with its equalisation measures.
Sounds like they are happy for inequity there ...
yet when the Swans & their sponsor plough just as much into an academy, those two clowns, cry foul.
Reeks of hypocrisy IMOComment

Not sure if this is the suitable thread for it or not and its not exactly a huge surprise, but Josh Dunkley was named captain of the Gippsland Power under 18's today.
Looks like we'll be picking up a couple of natural leaders in him and Mills.Twitter @cmdil

I'd imagine the GWS academy teams are just packed with riverina kids who have been brought up playing AFL...they'd require far less development than our academy boys.Twitter @cmdil

Draft discounts may fall into line - AFL.com.au
Article posted on the AFL website, where it is being suggested that the discount for father/son picks will also be 25%.
With the proposed changes how does this affect the swans should they go for both Mills & Dunkley.Comment
