Goodes cost us several promising chances with his slow hands and lack of pace. His stat sheet should really read -1 goals.

You're generous. I think he was originally called Doughnuts coz his first half dozen games read 0 0 0 across the board for kicks, marks & hand balls (ie his stats were all doughnuts or zeros); others called him "Emergency" ie 000. At Geelong he was Torture.

Wonder what he's up to these days? After flopping in the VFL with Werribee, I think he went on holiday to Europe for a year with his girlfriend

Yes, I do recall us wondering what it would take for Geelong to take him back, or more specifically, how many kegs of beer the Swans management would have to dump at Kardinia Park, for the Geelong management to consider the proposition.

Are we determined to look for nice story's at any cost? ... there is simply no other explanation for Towers to play another game ... no particular skills to compensate for general inability to get the ball. It could be argued that Rampe is conspiring to ruin his story ... but having lemons all round him on the backline does not help his composure and I think generally we are hopeless in the wet ... even all those possessions by our midfield were largely ineffective because their (lack of class) disposal skills is magnified in the wet.
My sense with Josh Kennedy is that his disposal effectiveness and goal kicking have been sliding since 2012? Any stats guys able to comment?

We used to do that. We just don't run hard enough. Our midfield no longer causes any damage like others do. We are capable, but we are not working hard enough.

The commentary was hard to listen to as a Swans supporter.
This pretty much sums it up for me.

Mark Thomson is vying for the worst of the worst, with his commentary swinging from the bleeding obvious to open barracking and back again. Really poor.

Towers is a pick 22 bust, time to move on.

Goodes only possible role, from here on in, should be as sub when injuries leave an opening, or mentoring the reserves ala ROK.

Our defence needs a shake up, when things aren't going our way and the pressure is on, we look bottom 4 vulnerable down back.

The AFL trading ban is having an early impact, because I'm not sure who we have as ready to go tall or medium defenders.

I will preface this by saying I absolutely love Buddy and what he has done for our club but I must admit that my initial concerns continue to trouble me with the whole deal. I am concerned about the depth we have have lost as a result. If we think about it, we have lost in no particular order, Mummy, Mal, Dre, Lamby, Jesse, Membrey, etc, etc + trading in players. Whilst most of these blokes aren't world beaters, it has affected our depth and options to replenish. Happy for Buddy to keep his deal but think Tippo deserves a massive pay decrease so we can retain Hanners, Parker, Mitchell, et al. Also, I don't care what anyone says, when we are relying on Pyke as our main ruckman who gives us f all around the ground and seems to only be able to tap to his feet, we are in trouble. He may have had 58 ho today but seriously, with 2mins to go, there are other options than playing to our feet?!? Clark Keating didn't win three flags knocking it around his feet!! We had the opportunity to replenish by retiring Goodesy and Rhyce but we didn't have the guts to make the change. Don't get me wrong as both of them are absolute ornaments to our club but they are blocking up our development, see Jones and Robinson/mitchell!! If Tommy doesn't play the rest of the year, horse should be sacked, even in his interview tonight he wasn't that complimentary about TM game when he was clearly 2nd best to Hanners!

Grateful if someone would explain what the umpire called in relation to the Pyke (non) mark near the end of the match. Did the ump say the ball had been touched? Or did he call that Pyke had played on? Or something else?

Touched apparently, the FOX footage on the screens were replaying the Rampe(?) kick that led to the Pyke (non) mark. Very hard to tell either way from the vision, you can only conclude the umpire must have heard a noise out there.

Was listening to the radio and they claimed it was touched

Thanks. Pity, could have been the clincher. But then we had a few "could have beens".

The replay showed a clear touch after the game, Pyke just had to get rid of it quicker.

I'm gutted that we lost but not surprised, there's no two ways about it we are just a terrible wet weather team.

Let's hope that this loss doesn't end up costing us top 4 or top 2 at the end of the season.

Pykes total inability to really contribute round the ground is really hurting us now.... he has done an amazing job for us but we really need to find a new ruckman fairly soon.

I agree, he rucks well but that's it....

It's hard to believe he was the leading contested mark in the whole AFL a few years back, and was kicking plenty of goals at a really high conversion rate.....

                              What's happened?

                                Wow.
Trying to play catch up footy in the rain.
Getting in front and then putting the brakes on... with 10 minutes to go.
If someone told me the swans were last year's minor premiers, and if I didn't know better...
                                Unbelievably bad form.
                                Not impressed.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
