And in some good news for booking tickets (well, news to me), AT LAST Ticketek has introduced an online system that allows you to choose the area of the ground in which you want to sit. Still can't choose your actual seat but it's a helluva improvement on the 'best available' that used to stick me in places I hated.
We're holding back partly because (at least for prelims) the old system always sold off the dud positions first. Before you criticize a man, walk a mile in his shoes. That way you'll be a mile away and he'll be shoeless.Comment

I will be going on the weekend but a small pessimistic part of me hopes we lose. It would be terrible for us to fly to Perth again sore and undermanned and get whalloped by West Coast again having Goodes booed the whole time. What be a shameful way for him to go on what could well likely be his last game of footy.Comment

I suspect Buddy is missing the game for far bigger reasons than feeling "morose". I also suspect he would give just about anything to be there doing what he loves. But sure, if its all about you and you not "feeling" it, stay home. A wine sipping snob who makes no noise at a gut wrenching final won't be missed.Comment

I will say I find choosing not to go to a home final in your own city a bit odd, but it's not for me to judge.
All I will say is - we got within 9 points of the top team on their home turf despite losing our CHF before half time and a handful of our players playing just about their worst game of the year. Plenty of reason for optimism going into the semi-final I would have thought. If you don't go, that's your choice, I'm not going to come round to your house demanding to know why you aren't going to the game, but one would hope that as many Swans members as possible would make the effort to attend their own home final.Comment

Exactly! Other years I've been online at 9am and, as you say, have been sold a dud ticket. So this year I held off till well after 10 am, and then to my surprise found I could choose the bay I wanted. Such a big (and overdue) improvement to the booking system.Comment

Morose, depressed, anxious.... call it what you will. I didn't know that there were "degrees" of it. Glad to hear that Buddy's reasons are "far bigger" than mine though.
Whoda thought?Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.Comment

There are degrees to sadness. Or at least, feeling morose is far different to suffering from clinically diagnosed depression or anxiety. I'm not saying you don't suffer from either of these, but depression is far, far more than 'feeling morose'.
I'm actually the opposite to a lot on here. I wasn't at all keen on going this time last week and had told all and sundry that I wasn't going. Then they played with so much heart on Saturday that my pride in them grew/returned and I now feel like they need me there on Saturday night and I need to be there. Finances are extremely limited, but the family tickets (that incidently they're sold out of for members already) are a bargain in the cheap seats for $90. I'm going to try and snag them in the general allocation at 2pm to take my eldest to his first final this weekend. There's nothing like an AFL final, and this is the only chance we'll have of seeing one this year. Looking forward to it!

"The Swans will start strong favourites to beat North Melbourne at home this week and should they win through they will start overwhelming underdogs in Perth against the Eagles.
The doomsday scenario sees Goodes again subjected to another raucous round of booing and perhaps even chaired off amid a hail of boos, in contrast to the recent guards of honour and warm rounds of applause given to retiring stars."

I also fear that Goodes scenario. But I think even though some will boo him more will honour him. They saw him in 2005 and 2006 and 2007 etc when our rivalry was something to behold. They should respect the end of his career (if he retires). I certainly hope they do.
I also hope that whether Goodes plays on or not we are able to hang on to him in some capacity. Can't have a better ambassador for the club - he is a statesman. Plus he will be a great mentor if not coach to the younger players, indeed to all the other players. All opinions are not equal. Some are a very great deal more robust, sophisticated, and well supported in logic and argument than others. -Douglas Adams, author (11 Mar 1952-2001)Comment

Got our seats.
Cmon guys the team need us Saturday night. Lets show them how proud we are of our team and how much we will support them.
Our great record at this venue plus the bloods spirit will give us the win and a Prelim. back again in Perth.
Stuff the ground complaints - just get there and be loud.Comment

If Annie doesn't want to go then so be it. It's her choice and, whether so goes or not, doesn't detract her loyalty to the club. She goes to all of the functions and has always backed the club and the players, so give her a break and respect her wishes.Comment
