Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light. -
wow.
That escalated quickly.
I hate to say it to the most passionate group of fans. But it really is only a game. Watching will (ferrell) last night - seriously the funniest thing i have seen for such a long time.
"there is nothing more american than grabbing a hot dog going to the ball park sitting and watching nine guys from the dominican republic..."
Its been a long year. I hope we give a really good account of ourselves on saturday night. I wont be there (first final i have missed which wasnt in perth for about 10 seasons) but i'm quietly confident that we can get over the line. But even if we dont I will remeber rhyce shaw with the same fondness i have for marty mattner and tadgh. what a generation we had of hbfs when you had mal to the group.Comment

I'm really proud of how the boys are doing in a year that continues to throw some unusual challenges their way. I'll be there cheering for them louder than ever, it's the least I can do!Comment

Spot on. I have never been more proud of them then after that Freo game and the heart that they showed.Comment

If the swans promise to turn up and play, I'll go.
Does that make you feel less superior?

We'll have to win a lot of footy in the midfield and not give them too much easy opportunity to kick the ball to their tall forwards. But we usually handle their talls fairly well. North are also prone to making a lot of turnovers, so our pressure will be important. They are a good contested team, but we should be better on the outside. Hopefully McGlynn is up to at least doing a defensive job on Harvey.
We probably need Tippett to play a lot more at forward and give the bulk of the ruckwork to Pyke. Hopefully Rohan can get his body up and going for this one because a lot may fall on him along with Towers to create chaos in their backline with forward pressure. I'd play Goodes more in the midfield to keep Firrito out of the defence. Their backline is good at marking, but not too quick. We'll need to turn this to our advantage.
If we play this smartly, we should have enough players to do it.
I don't know if it's good or bad, but we are pretty heavy favourites to take this one out.
At this stage Benny hasn't got the fitness level to tag anyone. In fact I'd be very surprised to see him retained. His form last week was woeful. Ten disposals for a mid is about as bad as it gets and I don't think he will get much better. He is simply not fit enough, running about 50%.
You want to take Tippet out of the ruck? Bloody hell we won't even get 10% of the hitouts. Pyke managed 11 HO & 5 disposals in four quarters. Tip only got 12 but managed 15 disposals & 3 goals. Towers in a quarter got 4 HO. The idea with Sandy is to jump over him not body him but our rucks chose to body him. I would not bother to do a defensive job on Harvey we have a few options, Jones being one of them, Lloydy or Harry being others.
We should be thinking not how to stop them but how they have to stop us and developing the team on how we can expose them. North have a few fast fellas like Atley but in the main their mids and defenders are generally slower than their opponents. We will lack a bit of height but we can expose their lack of pace in the defence by kicking low and using the blitzkrieg attack. We attacked well against Freo but lobbed the ball up too much. We need to pass the ball around and use HB to advantage.
Scott likes his loose man in defence and will play someone to block up the defence and fill the holes. We can do one of two things, use this as an invitation to do the same or call his bluff and man his loose man up. I like the second option. But at times we could do both.
I would play Abaina Davis for his first game because he has the height and his composure in the mids in the reserves has been something of a revelation. He can play forward, back or mids. Smithy comes in and so does Rose.
Ins; Smithy, Rose Davis
Out; Reid, Benny (just not fit), BJ (can't take a risk of him going to water again, not in a sudden death).Comment

They were brilliant in defeat and with a small gain in composure, could have pulled off the win of the season.
So we will be there Saturday night cheering our boys on and hoping for a win.Comment

It's ok Annie I'm not going due to finances. Went to Kinsellas and watched the final last week and don't have the finance to go this week. That is life. I will watch it with my cats, Jordan & Possum. They barrack for the Swans too, they both love watching the footy, I think it is all the movement. They occasionally want to join in so they bat the screen.
I will be there in spirit though.Comment

Is it really a given that Goodsey will retire? I distinctly remember at the end of last year there was a lot of talk that he'd retire then too.
Then he announced he was always planning on playing on in 2016, and might even go into 2016. There is no doubt he is playing well enough to go another year. The fact that he can still burn opposing players 15 years younger than him in the fourth quarter of tight games says to me his body is still in good shape, and there is no doubt he is a very cagey old fella out there on the field. Aside from his position in the indigenous community, he is a professional footballer through and through and I'm not convinced guys like him ever really want to quit.
Obviously winning the GF this year with almost a quarter of our starting 22 injured is a major stretch but even if we don't win and Goodsey announces he wants to go again in 2016 then it'll be no small consolation to my mind.
Hoping to see him go round again in 2016.Before you criticize a man, walk a mile in his shoes. That way you'll be a mile away and he'll be shoeless.Comment

It makes it worse seeing all the finals posters/pictures with him on it knowing he won't be there.Comment

What gives you the right to decide who is and isn't a fan? You use the word Pathetic to describe someone who supports the same team as you because they don't support them the way you do. I have supported the Swans since 1984 and was living overseas when we broke the drought in 2005 so of course wasn't able to attend a final. How dare you tell me that my joy and relief when the final siren sounded was unwarranted and not deserved because I didn't go to a final.
You support the team your way and I will support them however I choose.
But I suggest you keep your insulting comments for bigfooty or wherever you usually post.Comment

Another unnecessary escalation faunac8. Everybody has their own reasons for missing games, and captains post certainly wasn't in reference to you or your circumstances.
He made direct reference to another poster that is going to the b&f but has decided not to go to the final. He ate more cheese, than time allowedComment
