Thats one hopping mad Talia family isn't it. And I agree, could well turn into a stellar year for Michael.

I cant remember a time where Ive seen a player hung out to dry like the bulldogs did to Talia.

Its a disgrace, and you'd think that if that is now part of the culture of beveridge, their climb up the ladder will be short lived.

Someone else's stupid loss is ALWAYS our gain.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.

Oh we could name a few. Actually we could name a Lot! Swans have kind of become the "we'll fix you" club.

Typical private school type inquiry into nothing. I guess what comes out of this is that Cheney is a dead set dill and Beveridge is an over reacting sook.

Are you kidding? Cheney had 2 opportunities, while being officially questioned, to admit it was him but didnt. The AFL says that he was "in shock" so didnt tell them that it was all made up. If the investigation had found that there was an issue, then all hell would have broken loose about integrity of the game and the lucrative betting agencies would have demanded that a head roll. It would have had enormous ramifications and potentially much legal wrangling, legal fees and bad publicity for the AFL.
All of a sudden, one mobile phone is lost and the other had its messages wiped. Cheney steps up and says he made it all up. The AFL breathes a sigh of relief because crisis is averted and there is no case to answer.
The Bulldogs are furious because they know something but the decision has been made. This is typical of the way the AFL handles these things - we of all supporters know this.
Something is rotten in the state of Docklands.

Well, at best, it keeps the conspiracy theorists going...a bit more ammo.

                  - Bulldogs have said that whatever was said didnt effect the final. So therefore the information had no value.
                  - Text Messages on a phone have little value in a court, unless police confiscated (or from telco). I doubt the AFL have the power to take a private phone without permission, so this part of the story is a red herring.
                  - Cheney said he was joking. At best, he realised he didnt possess enough information to make his initial claim. Joking, or jumping to conclusions, its much the same.

The Talia's have handled this with grace and I'm inclined to believe them. Bulldogs, Beveridge, Cheney and AFL have acted like pork chops. I dont trust them as far as I could kick them.

My Conclusion => Fairly innocent remark between brothers taken out of context, blown out of proportion, then used as political tool.

I'd say the Talia's will be more circumspect from now on.

Tory Dickson was on SEN a few days ago. Although he didn't say much, he did say that Talia was well liked. He called him a good bloke. I got the impression that the players have quietly backed Talia, not their coach.

If that's the case then the Bulldogs could be in trouble next year. If the players in a young up and coming team loose respect of their coach then all of last years gains will fall away
