While the outcome doesn't exactly feel kosher, I am not sure what the Dogs think they have to gain by keeping this going any longer. Presumably they don't have any documentary evidence that they haven't already provided to the AFL.

They've acknowledged there was no impact on the result of the game. They have cut adrift their player they accused of inappropriate behaviour so he is no longer their problem. The AFL has pontificated and come up with a conclusion of sorts. Any change from here is only going to impact Cheney's reputation further - if he was initially telling the truth, having taken it as far as he did he should have stuck with his story. But if he chose to be the fall guy now, for whatever reason, he can't really change his mind.

It's hard to know exactly what the Bulldogs want to get out of all this if they insist on taking it further.

Ever been top the Swans Facebook site?

      Anyway, you missed the point.
      Let me rephrase it

"If Carlton bid Mills with pick one it will be considered a vexatious bid by some"

Completely agree Liz - nothing for the Bulldogs to gain to try and string this out any more, in fact they're just embarrassing themselves further.

AFL a close second - they were asked to investigate by the Bulldogs, why not just do so and give your finding. Why should the AFL get caught up in a sideshow just because the Bulldogs are in denial?

For some reason the AFL just can't help themselves and have to find a way to contrive and manipulate a process. A shame they couldn't grow some balls and admonish the Bulldogs and Beveredge for denying M.Talia procedural fairness and not even listen to his side of the story.

I wouldn't want to be a Bulldogs player and be doubting whether my coach's loyalty is with me and my team, or his old mates at Hawthorn.

It sounds like some protocols may have been breached, but it is unclear how serious or to what extent. When the story breaks, it seems like there may be something to it, but then:
              • Evidence goes missing.
              • Witnesses change their stories.
              • Others remain silent.

In the end, it's hard to prove anything so there isn't much that can be done.

It think I've heard this story before.

              Many times over.

If you're the Talia's and are completely innocent, why on earth would you keep any record of your messages to hand over to the AFL anyway.

Can anyone say with a straight face that they should have trusted the AFL to run a fair and transparent investigation??? Or would you instead be worried about other agendas being at play - ahead of actually following a reasonable process and letting justice prevail???

Who knows what was said and whether the Talias did go too far - but if I were them I would have been vehemently denying that they even knew they were in fact brothers, rather than giving the AFL anything when they clearly can't be trusted to run an investigation.

Let the clubs deal with it.
One club maybe got some tiny advantage, one club maybe got some tiny disadvantage.
Bulldogs reacted regardless, and we were the beneficiaries.

How much can be told on text message anyway ?

As Caro has said this is yet another example of a Victorian club leading the AFL.

Apologies if I missed that, I'd regard Mills at 1 a vexatious bid and I would be tempted to call Carlton's bluff but I think in this case we just want this kid so badly we'd actually pay that.

In future more normal drafts I expect is to have picks around the approximate values of our draft picks that allow us to pass without disrupting our strategy and I expect us to call some bluffs.

Note I see Emma Quayle has Kennedy as late as 11 or 12 in her phantom draft, that would be a huge win for GWS

Bulldogs should definitely apologise. Talias should definitely sue. Their professional reputations were bought into question. Definitely impacted M Talias career and earning capacity.

Hearsay from another clubs player is not enough evidence to raise this question. Dogs are a disgrace.

Swans will match any bid for Mills.
I think Dunkley would be aware of this.

Wow that is a serious contrast to the Bulldog's last statement on the issue. If the brothers are genuinely telling the truth you gotta feel for Michael. Hopefully a brighter future at the Swans.

I have a funny feeling that all this means that Michael will have a stellar year for us in 2016.
