While the outcome doesn't exactly feel kosher, I am not sure what the Dogs think they have to gain by keeping this going any longer. Presumably they don't have any documentary evidence that they haven't already provided to the AFL.
They've acknowledged there was no impact on the result of the game. They have cut adrift their player they accused of inappropriate behaviour so he is no longer their problem. The AFL has pontificated and come up with a conclusion of sorts. Any change from here is only going to impact Cheney's reputation further - if he was initially telling the truth, having taken it as far as he did he should have stuck with his story. But if he chose to be the fall guy now, for whatever reason, he can't really change his mind.
It's hard to know exactly what the Bulldogs want to get out of all this if they insist on taking it further.
