This required their players to work hard and they outran us in the first half

Unfortunately for them his kind of taxing game style took its toll in the second half and they couldn't maintain that work rate coming off consecutive six day breaks.
Couldn't have said it better. Spot on Ugg.

The only problem is that Eddie would consider it a win if NSW wasn't producing any footballers provided Collingwood was winning!

Papley was pretty good on Saturday, other than his missed set shot. Unless he's sore I don't think there is any reason to rest him. If anything we'd rest McGlynn and give Papley back the full time small forward position which is where he has looked most dangerous.

I am enjoying The Odd Couple. Match made in heaven. Or somewhere. And it could NOT have been predicted, Bud and Isaac read each other very very well.

As for the poor trades, I think St Kilda did ok out of Schneider, and Demptser (who is still playing), looks like Membrey is coming good, Shiggsy looks to be going great guns at the Dogs, and Collingwood with Jolly and Adelaide with Stevens. So not all doh's.

Josh Jenkins kicks 8 and misses out. Just a little bit of credibility lacking there. Having said that I thought it was Maccas best game for a while. I hope he keeps improving.

LOL, I can't quite fathom the dislike for McVeigh on here. Yes, he is on far side of his best footy but for mine he still provides composure and good leadership on the field and usually uses the footy well.

I suspect that he will only just get there next year in his last year but for mine he will end his career in the seniors

I suggest we are doing well as a team when we can't find anybody more suitable than McVeigh to be our whipping boy.

                            That's rubbish.
McVeigh is judged on how he plays.
I've never called for him to be dropped, but I thought he should have come back through the 2's
Last year I was close to calling for him to be 'given a rest' because he made so many mistakes.
I think he's overrated in that he is being regarded on his form of a couple of years ago, which in the end, isn't fair to him.
I hope the Swans find a good role for him where he will continue to be a major part of the team up until he retires.
The difference between insanity and genius is measured only in success.

I think he has taken a little while to find his groove after the last spell on the sideline, but he was very good against Essendon (not the hardest test, I know) and seems headed in the right direction. He has the skill to find time, the brief pause in order to hit someone up accurately, something he does well. It's one of the main ways he directs play, and not many others have the knack.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

McGlynn looks most likely to be a legitimate whipping boy so far this season.
