Apart from these dubious umpiring calls.. It was a great game by the boys in defence who really stood up and the closing speed to spoil was top notch. Impressed by all tonight and Kennedy was crucial in the clinches.. Tbh didn't notice hanners much on the ground to win BOG
I was at the game and had a perfect view. It was great for Gunston that the so called mark was deemed 3 meters closer to goal by the ump. Would not have goaled if the correct mark was in order. Had a perfect position on the wing and my appraisal was: 1,2 and 4th quarters great, 3rd quarter very ordinary. Hewettt has arrived as a player, understands the game now. Sinclair was only serviceable, think he is carrying injury, Parker cant jump and kicking ordinary, definitely carrying injury. Harry C is showing a bit if consistency now, good to see. Also great thinking by Tom M on Sam M. understood That Sam m NEVERS runs in a straight line and always does his 360 turnaround. Tom M took the risk and was waiting for his 360 turn and often caught him or placed him under pressure. Well Done! One note on the ump. Just before half time we all seen Buddy get tripped and no free kick, then when it happened in the 3rd quarter to a Hawks player, the crowd went ballistic, shouting for a free kick.. I thought, a bit of pay back and just grinned.

Yes, and unfortunately for us and our chances of getting through any Friday night Swans games without any truly cringe worthy moments, Bruce's restless heart, seems to be in the process of being captured, by a certain young blonde who wears the the number 5 jersey for the Swans.

Hey does anyone know where on AFL.com you can watch a replay of the game free??

I remember that there was a secret section where pass games were able to be seen without paying Telstra some more money, thank you in advance!!

Poor old Brererton ... mate of Warne says it all ... sulking about umpiring but supposed to be a commentator who actually watches both sides ... a couple of genuine complaints late in the game ... but the Laidler no prior farce, the Tippet strangle, and the Buddy trip seem to have deluded this poor little rich boy! All were critical moments that took away momentum and all were obvious!

If you have a pass, just go to the main AFL home page. Go to where the scores are at the top of the page. Underneath the Hawks Swans score, there are the words Watch Replay. Click on and it will give you a select your game menu. But here you probably will have to log in with your live pass details: email and password. Then select game and the quarter that you want to watch.

              Swans by 25.
So happy with that win. The last few times we've beaten them we've really been psyched up for the event. Last night it was just another game, sloppy at times, great at others and we stood strong in the last quarter. Clarkson saying it was a bad game is just self-serving. The Swans made the Hawks play badly. Sure we have to improve but next week again the Roos should be mammoth. I know they are winning but I'll still be tipping us as I think we're stronger.

The worry is how much we rely on Buddy and Joey. I hope other raise themselves to match their workrate. Gotta give a cheer to Gaz - when Buddy kicked it into the forward 50 I screamed "what the hell are you doing?" then saw the Ginger Ninja streaking for it and relaxed. Great faith, great goal.

BTW why can't we just play Buddy as ruck and he can kick all our goals from the centre square? The others can take the game off.

We played a didn't game style last night than we have since 2005. I think it was deliberate against the Hawks to starve them off possession and rebound
                . Well done Longmire.

Why is Tom there. Tom or Umpire.

Well spotted and there was actually another one of these.

                  Capture.jpg

In the first instance, Burgoyne makes high contact with Hewett.

                  Capture 2.jpg

Next, Lewis makes contact with Hewett. This is possibly high, but notice that Nicholls already has his arm out to pay the free against Burgoyne. The whistle has already sounded.

                  Capture 3.jpg

Finally, Nicholls retreats and Schmitt moves in. Both umpires allow Lewis to stand the mark well in front of the original Burgoyne infringement. Didn't actually cost us anything, but still. It was also bookended by Tippo having his head ripped in the goal square and Buddy being tripped on the 50.

So tired of the replay they rip in after the umpire is settled and ready to bounce the ball. No doubt it is as agreed with the broadcaster, but so obvious and annoying. Also at times before kicks are taken after a mark which led to us missing the live handpass to Buddy by McGlynn for the goal. Can RWO take this up with the powers that be please!

I had a fine time last night. Have read about ten pages of your comments and apart from the troll we all know about, it is patently clear that there no passengers on the ground. A lot of that is due to McVeigh being the general and organising everyone (don't some of you understand what he does?) And I can see the influence of Kirky out there. Self belief. Never blame anyone else. Second and third efforts. Back up a team mate when you can. Play it out to the very end. Not like last week.

I acknowledge Jones as having improved a lot - feisty but not letting it get on top of him.
I acknowledge Hanners giving Mitchell an extensive tongue lashing for being a grub. I think it put Mitchell of his game a little.
I acknowledge Sincas because this is a hard gig, and he is having to play a very different type of game, and he is attempting to throw himself into it, second and thirds, not perfect, but he is a big presence.
I also acknowledge Hewett and Mills: they are growing each and every week into the game and they can be trusted.

And Buddy. There is nothing as heart warming as seeing Buddy smiling and having fun. I think they call it charisma.

Funny how we played our best footy and were organised in the first rounds without mcveigh.
If we judged mcveigh like the bullying done to young hiscox, hed be copping it double.
