Can't see why Towers is in the gun. Played pretty well last night. Did people expect him to belt the ball to the goal front again after the savaging he got in the Richmond game? Even Longmire said in his presser that the plan was to try and hold possession and keep it near the boundary line. We lost the next clearance remember? Where we lost the game was some of our easy kicks into the leading forwards which missed be a mile. eg. Papley to Buddy.

Why did Franklin in the third quarter take a mark inside 50m and instead of having a shot he just kicked it to the top of the square.
If you can kick a goal from 80 metres why not have a shot from 50.

I would keep Towers, he is under 30 games and still young in AFL terms, I think he will get better.

All the same he is undoubtedly potentially on the table for a trade but provided he isn't too pricey I can see us keeping him.

Heeney in for Jones and Ted down back for now makes sense but McGylnn and Teddy are under the pump

What's up with Laids and Davis? If Laids was injured (as appeared possible at the end of the Dogs match) when did it happen and what is the injury. And I have no clue with Davis except ugg says he does not expect him to play ressies. I would be interested in seeing Davis for Teddy in the front half if Davis is up and about but apparently he isn't - is that right? What's going on??

I don't think ted is the answer upfront and AA is showing all the signs of continuing all the way to the finals as a KEY defender

I suspect that if AA was picked ahead of ted for the cats and hawks games as a defender then he has been given the nod which is very X citing for AA and very sad for Ted

I thought Macca struggled a bit in defence on Thursday night so given Jones and Laids out of the backline I wonder what our backline rotation will look like ?

I would bring in Cunningham for the loss of jones off the HBF

Laidler strained a hamstring in the final few minutes of last week's reserves game. He's listed as out for one week. I don't know about Davis as he is not shown on the injury list.

Has the club given official news on Jones - It looked bad.

For me this week I would make limited changes. Bring back Heeney and Cunningham with Cunningham playing of HB.

Ben McGlynn gives it his all however seems to have lost a pit of pace. His pace was was helped him get to the contest, as he is not the most skillful.

According to AFL 2016: Time running out for injured Sydney Swans forward Sam Reid it doesn't look likely that we will see Sam Reid this year. We are down to the bare bones in KPPs now and we will have to get everything going positive for us on the injury front for the rest of the year if we are to make an impact in the finals, which means that Tippett comes back fit and Talia is at least available to go if needed. I would expect both Marsh and Laidler will be okay to go in a week or two. Given the situation I don't think we have much choice but to persist with Towers and hope for the best. Many parts of his game are improving, it mainly his decision making which is the issue.

There was no mention in the above Andrew Wu article about Jones or Abe Davis, but it's been posted elsewhere that Jones is out for 4-6 weeks (according to Tom Harley) although I haven't seen a link to the source.

Given the situation we have to play Xav Richards this week. We have to fast track his senior experience as he's really the last (tall) man standing as a reserve KPP. Maybe Ted can go back to defense or dropped for a smaller player to replace Jones; perhaps we could give Foote a debut game.

I thought Sinclair had his best game for quite some time on Thursday. He took 3 marks and kicked a goal, but I still think Nankervis is a better option. He was 2nd in our reserves best list and I would make the change this week. I would think that both Nanka and Naismith would have played against former Giant and now Carlton ruckman Andrew Phillips in the reserves.

The last and most obvious change is to bring in Heeney, probably in place of McGlynn.

I'm loath to add any more debutants but i have a feeling X could offer more than Ted.

Heeney and Laidler in for Jones and McGlynn with Ted down back would seem reasonable. We are one kick or dodgy 50m penalty from being top of the table so no need for wholesale changes

Ideally we would replace Jones with someone who can provide similar run and carry, and that won't be Teddy. Cunningham would be my best guess for that role.
