Michael Talia arrested and charged with possession of a prohibited substance

Just before Talia's "incident" he was being listed as 2-3 weeks away from return, but he hadn't actually been taken off the LTI list.

On 18 August, in announcing Tippett's return from the LTI list, Swans Media reported:

"Michael Talia will also remain on long-term injury list with rookie Harry Marsh his replacement. .....Marsh ..... made (his) debut earlier this season after being upgraded to the primary list."

"Talia has been ruled out until the end of the season."

On the Swans website Michael is listed as 'indefinite' with a knee injury. I thought the original injury was to his foot. Did he injure his knee later?

Who would know? If I have one major complaint about this club, it's how murky they are with injury news and updates. Bloody frustrating

I think I have worked it out. It is from grovelling on bended knees pleading for a second chance.

I worry about Talia's injury, it was the same injury Matthew Egan had at Geelong an 8 week listing turned out never to play again also Dane Swan in the same game. Talia's same injury but was told not as severe I have a bad feeling about this, has anyone seen him train since the first game.

I suspect there is a lot of list management going on behind the scenes. Remember we have papley and marsh playing as elevated rookies

Talia does not have the same injury as Egan and it was much less severe than Swan's. I think it's just became pointless to bring him back this late in the season when there was no chance to play senior footy this year.

So what do people think now that the allegations (that M Talia passed on game day tactics to D Talia) have resurfaced one year on? All the HSun articles are paywalled, but you wonder how Swans management will respond to this. If the allegations can be shown to be true, then surely the club would have to get rid of M Talia.

I don't agree. Even if he did the 'crime', if he didn't do it with us I think he can learn from his mistake and look to start again with a clean slate. Anyway, we are never going to know what happened. On the one hand he was exonerated, on the other there is a fair bit of 'smoke' and being found not guilty is not the same as being found innocent - it just means nothing has been proven. However, between these allegations and the drugs, I think his character is under a bit of a cloud and he will have to work harder than most to win trust now wherever he goes. Maybe he will decide it is too hard or, hopefully, he will dig in, learn, and realise what is required and do it. He remains a talented young player in a position where we could certainly use some depth. Apart from Talia we are relying on AJ and X (after them there's only Davis and Melican) to fill the KPD spots now that Teddy's gone and AA's stepped up. Laids, Swampy etc are not tall enough to be in the same category. So we do need another KPD to fall back on if/when injury hits.

Pretty sure we signed him up before he was exonerated anyway. Either way won't make a difference to his future with us

Yes the swans knew about the allegations when they signed him. It's a shame the situation has resurfaced.

Hopefully he can put his head down and work hard and have a successful career with us.

I thought that they asked him about the allegations before they traded him in. And he told the club there was no truth to them. That's why it may be difficult to retain him if it can be demonstrated that he lied to the Swans

If you're right, I see the logic. But (a) where is your source for him denying the allegation to the Swans? I realise he denied it to the world at large but you make it sound like he gave the Swans some specific assurances; and (b) chances are it will never be "demonstrated"/proven.

This was what the club said last year Club Statement: Michael Talia - sydneyswans.com.au "Talia adamantly denied any wrongdoing throughout the process" which I took to mean the process with the Swans. I would imagine they'd have asked him if there was any substance to the allegations and he'd have said no. But I think it's highly unlikely to go any further as the Bulldogs aren't interested and the AFL have tried to shut it down.
