Plenty of pressure coming marsh, laidler and possibly AJ.
Lloyd plays as a defensive wing.
As good a suggestion as any. In this scenario however, I'm not sure that Newman will be 7th defender. I have wondered at Jones maybe spending more time midfield since Tommy has gone. Jones is a bit more outside - still tough but not as strong, however faster and a better kick, if not quite as sublime a handpass.

Yes agree that if he plays then he plays forward. He is too soft for a back player these days, too easily pushed off the ball and then has no pace.

I think he will get the five games for his 300 and he'll be given a chance to play the small forward role, he's still got good footy smarts. I'd rate him 50-50 as seeing the season out in the seniors

Yep I'm on the 'Nic Newman for HB' bandwagon now.

michaeltalia Last leg of tour. Amsterdam you were something else. Back to reality soon.

                Amsterdam, you were something else.
No need to read between the Lines with Michael.

Yes. Michael, sad to say that it's back to reality time now.

I hope he's just doing coke and not smoking weed. You would think he'd know that marijuana can be detected in hair samples 2 months after the fact. But with Michael, you can never be sure.

Actually, "just cocaine" can also be detected in the hair for at least 90 days.
All he has to do is shave all his hair off & the cannot do a hair test for either cocaine or marijuana (Ben Cousins used this "strategy")

If that was directed at my post, I have stated facts, I believe.

Numerous sites should be able to be found regarding drug testing that state that: 1) 1 & 1/2 inches of hair are required for testing for a 90 day detection of substance use; 2) cocaine is equally detectable as marijuana over a similar length of time from hair samples; 3) hair sample testing can be thwarted by shaving down. None of these points cast aspersions on anyone's character.

Ben Cousins shaving down was reported in The Age 27 August 2010, and if, I recall, in the TV documentary. And I don't think me stating that offended his character.

I don't think he needed a footy forum to achieve that.

... like he had any to begin with.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

Yeah, I was one of the more vocal about what he did at the time, much to the annoyance of one RWO member in particular
I stand now where I did at the time, but will go with however the Swans deal with him, and move on.

It appears that he will remain on the list and will be given every opportunity to regain his spot.
Based on that the best thing for the club is for everyone to move on and put it behind us.

I have done these things myself in the past but I think when you become a professional AFL player, you know what you've signed up for and you need to maintain self discipline. On the other hand, like someone else said here, he's young with a crap load of money and mistakes can happen. I don't think its the end of the world, I think everyone should move on and he should be able to fight again for his place but its important that he understands why what he did was wrong and the club also need to be seen to act in some way.
