I was told that there are 7 categories but category 6 and 7 tickets are hardly worth it as you are placed into the very top row out the back. Has anyone had experience in this area?
I watched the 2006 Grand Final from that area. I was glad to be at the game, but the view was like watching ants running around ... from the moon. Perhaps that's an exaggeration ... but it's hard to tell, as I'm pretty sure my brain was somewhat oxygen deprived at that altitude

Yer we were up there in 05, at least I had the joy of being there for the win but goswannies description is very apt.
We started taking the premiership club option after that so we'd never have to sit there again.

I watched the 1996 grand final from the back row of the Olympic Stand, and yes, it was like watching the game from a blimp. I've been fortunate enough to have premium seats for each of the rest of our grand finals and am very glad to have done so. But given the choice of sitting on the back row of the Olympic and not having a seat at all, I'd definitely take the former. It's fantastic just being at a GF (even when we lose, except in 2014).

Probably the best non swans game I ever witnessed live was the 1989 grand final It was standing room only tickets but in those days that was not an issue I was already a swans supporter but from a rugby background. That game confirmed that this was to be my game from then on .

Best non-Swans game I ever saw was also in 1989 ...... the lowly Saints beating the (then) silver spoon, perennially successful Blues down at Moorabbin. Plugger Lockett kicked 10.7 or 10.8 as I recall, against the supposed fullback of the century, and despite giving away at least a thousand free kicks (he was playing against the original untouchable umpires' pet after all). The only better atmosphere I've ever experienced was the Swans' unthinkable comeback against the Roos at the SCG in 1999. OK, and maybe the Leo and Nick moments of the 2005 and 2012 Grand Finals.
My opinion is objective truth in its purest form

They're lighting up the bridge for a week.

Swans and Giants light up Harbour Bridge - AFL.com.au
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.

Notice 40,000 tickets already sold, I assume GWS aren't giving away free tickets to this game, so that's a healthy number a week out.

What kind of % split support do you expect, given the GWS membership size would it be 75/25'ish?

I doubt GWS has 75%. More like 50/50 id say.
If swans members kick in we could break 60,000. If.

I'm not going next Saturday as I have a Dental appointment to have a tooth removed. Wouldn't be a pretty sight!
Reading all of your frustrations with Ticketek, what is going to happen when the next final is at the SCG? Red Zone will be handed over to the SCG members I'm guessing, which leaves about 30,000 tickets. Will it be one membership card for one ticket during the priority period? I can see the site going into meltdown!

                      1. Very likely.

                      2. Almost certain.

Barry do ANZ members have to purchase a reserved seat or can they just turn up on the day? Or is it a combination of both?

You can reserve if you want or turn up. If you reserve you usually get level 1 and 4. Turn up and youll get level 6 for big games.
Only sellouts would stop walk ups. Nrl grand final, SOO, bloodyslow.

Expected to bring out the Orange Army in droves.

How many people constitute a Tsunami?
