I get the feeling that the lower picks, those without all the natural talent of the top 10, are already used to having to work hard to get to where they want to be in the game. Maybe they get to the Swans, who demand the best of everyone, which the lower picks are already used to giving, whilst it comes as a shock to those that have relied on talent more than others.
This is obviously a generalisation, and there are plenty of top picks who bust their arse, but it could be an explanation too. I know I have read somewhere a while ago that Kinnear does look beyond talent/skill to include a prospects determination to be their best.

Aside from Harley saying Tippo going nowhere, it all makes sense.

yeah but if JOM says he happy to come to swans and we can offload tippetts $$$$$ which we think is more than what we offer JOM and you back end JOM contract due to his injuries....plus aside from AJ we do ahve a good record with knee injuries...
of course the swans would entertain a tippett trade....

There must be thousands of qualified talent scouts around the country, in formal and informal rolls. Even with that scrutiny some players can get over looked up to 3 or more times by EVERY CLUB and go and have a long career in the AFL. Of course some players are always going to succeed but with others its a bit of a lottery and their success or failure will depend on coaching, support, attitude and staying injury free.

Trade period is a bit like buying a ticket in a raffle. The big difference is that it takes a few years to know if you got a winner or not.

This from the AFL website this morning: "Gold Coast is rumoured to have interest in acquiring Tippett if the Swans need to find room in the salary cap."

I can now see that GCS would entertain a Tippett for O'Meara trade

Trading Tippo would be like getting rid of your brother in-law. Total bliss. I just don't see it. GC are not completely dumb. Why would you trade for that over priced log when you could get Towers, another player, and maybe some draft picks for O'Meara?

The more O'Meara doesn't play, the better he seems to get.

Oh the irony of us not being able to pay others due of ex-Hawk Buddys contract ......only to see 4 x Premiership Player, 5 time & current B & F, 2nd best Hawk of All time being Salary dumped for equivalent to a pick 88

I think Tippett is good when not injured, but N and N have proven they are able to do it without him. If GC are interested let Tippett go

We need a first round pick ready to go first game like Heeney or Mills.
I would take a look at our 2012 and 2013 drafts and rate the performance of our drafting process of late. This is prior to Heeney and Mills. It's about the best in the AFL.

We don't need a player ready game one. In fact we are better off with players requiring a couple of years of development as we already have several players like Newman, COR, Dawson, Rose and Davis who need to get senior games to continue their development. The new recruits are better off learning our system and joining the queue.

Abe Davis another one; do we want to keep him???

In fact just give them our list for the NEAFL and let them choose who they want.
We had some very good talent in our NEAFL squad last year.

Abe Davis will be a star; will be much more important to our future than Tom Mitchell would have been. He might even be a replacement for Josh Kennedy some years down the line.

I'm happy to have Cunningham on our list as of now. He's become a depth player, but could challenge for a senior spot if he can take his game up a notch or 2. Otherwise, I suspect he will be on the trade table in the next year or 2.

In another matter, I see that Marcus Adams and Jonothan Marsh are requesting a return to Perth. It's getting ridiculous how many West Australians just want to walk out of contracts and 'go home'. The draft and free agency have become a mockery. I would now be reluctant to draft any WA player, which is simply not right. The AFL need to clamp down of this. What is our El Primo Gillo doing about it? Probably spending time dreaming up new ways to punish the Swans.

Ludwig. If HC is to be traded in the next year or 2 he needs to get his shorts dirty otherwise no other club will be interested.

Yeah let Tippett go for a couple of first round draft picks or a 1st rounder plus a player. We already have depth in our ruck. JOM for Tippett - why would you want to trade an overvalued injury prone player for another overvalued injury prone player?

If it was that public then others would have reported it as well.
