Correct, it's why we get intermittent Cat B signing announcements throughout the year.

Fairly certain when it comes to elevation there is no difference between Cat A & Cat B but if you elevate a Cat B you've done really well considering their limited footy backgrounds. In a lower ranked out of contention team, I reckon O'Riordan would have played senior footy this year such was his surprisingly quick grasp of the skills and footy nous.

One minor difference relating only to the international player Cat. B rookie is that he must be given a contract with a minimum of two years, whereas the minimum contract for all other rookies is one year.

Hopefully Nick Smith has got another 4 or 5 years of top level footy left in him. Jones would be the closest I think at this point. I like Jones in the the midfield, but given our depth there, he may play more in defence. He did well there in the finals.

Leonardis may be one they have in mind, but it's hard to tell at this stage if he's the defensive-minded type.

COR played a lot of reserves footy on the wing as well as in defence. It's hard to say where he'll end up, but it probably won't be forward after the addition of Florent and Hayward.

The real concern should be: Who are we grooming to be the next Tom Derickx? Maybe we will target a player in the rookie draft.

Any chance of us getting Jake Barrett? He'll never get a game for GWS, especially after their recent pick-ups and I think that there is every chance that he could get a game for us if we have injuries. I think he's good enough. The only problem is that it will mean that in the long term he will be in front of a couple of our current players, namely Foote.

I wouldn't mind getting Kim Lebois. He could become Caleb Daniels 2.0 and offer some excitement in our forwardline. Jamie Hampton could be worthwhile for insurance incase Newman and Leonardis don't come along.

Villis could also be worth taking a punt on. If his health comes good he would be an absolute bargain.

No pre season draft today. Should be eliminated as no club is interested nowadays.

Blake Grewar (Brisbane), Max Spencer (Gold Coast), Zach Sproule (GWS) and Sam Fisher (Sydney) have been pre-listed as academy rookies.

So that's not the former St Kilda player but the GWS Academy player.

Sam Fisher. Supposedly a great kick but 2.7 is not that flash. seems to handball more than kicking too. I guess its great to take one of GWS's nominated academy players even if it was the 9th out of the nine nominated. Welcome on board anyway Sam.

So all 9 of GWS's academy nominees were picked up by an AFL club but none from ours (yet)
