So who are potential draftees from the academy this year or is it too early to form an opinion? I know Hardman has had some good press in earlier years.

Barra mat add a couple but I'd say Hardman, Bell Browne and Maze are the likely looking lads from this year's crop though anyone who makes the Allies Squad has a chance to get drafted with a good Div 1 Championships

Will be watching the Allies with interest this year because it appears it won't be clogged with orange people.

I'm out at Blacktown for the U18 and NEAFL double header. Swans academy team is doing well so far. Up 8.5 to 3.3 at half time. Blakey has 4 goals thus far, all in the second quarter.

How did he get them? In play? Set shot? In close?

Final score was 15.11 to 5.5. Goals were shared around in the second half and NB didn't add to his tally.

The around the ground difference between the two sides didn't feel anything like that implied by the score line but the Swans defence played very well collectively to thwart the Suns attacking thrusts.

Other than Brown and Blakey, i couldn't put names to numbers. If I can source a team sheet when I get home I might be able to provide a few comments on other players.

Like I said earlier in other threads. Be prepared for the Blakey media circus next year. Not named in the best players but half the article is about him. Dinny Navaratnam your a muppet.

It will be made worse by the fact Norf is involved as well, with that whining President of theirs, who while not quite at the 'Eddie level' of painfulness, he will take every opportunity to whine about it.

The very annoying part is there will never be a mention of how great the academy system is for a player like Rogers who came over from SA and even though is not going to be eligible for Sydney is still picked and plays well. Without the academy system there is no equivalent pathway for Rogers. Also it was asked before but does anyone know if Carroll is related to Dennis or Wayne Carroll?

Absolutely. I don't feel our club does enough (or maybe they just don't have a loud enough voice given the dribble coming out of the mouths of the old VFL club mouthpieces) to promote the broader benefits of the academy system.

It's why as supporters when on social media we need to highlight all lies and dribble coming from Melbourne. Rogers in years gone by moving to Sydney may have been completely lost to another sport or not had the correct coaching to allow him to fulfill his potential talent. I remember his dad playing for the cats.
