Yeah, I saw that too and thought 'what the'.......I thought the club said he might be 4 weeks away from Neafl.

I didn't know we were such a strong team. Holding up the other 17 teams takes strength (maybe not a successful attempt at humour, but you have to laugh).

Even in more distant years when Sydney failed to make the finals, three years on was highly successful:
2000. 2003 unexpected Preliminary Final appearance when many were predicting a spoon
1995. 1998 strong 3rd place Home and Away position.
1994. 1997 first time since the 1930's the Swans made back-to-back finals
1993. 1996 broke a 51 year Grand Final appearance draught.

          BRING ON 2020!

Although topping 1993 wouldn't have taken too much.

I was disappointed that our accommodation didn't have foxtel.
So, it turned out not having it and having a nice walk along the Ovens river on a lovely evening, instead of going to the pub was a positive for me!!

You should watch the replay twice. Why should we be the only ones to suffer?

Haha. I tried to watch the replay, but looks like the AFL have blocked that too.
I watch the first minute of the highlights instead.

They were probably concerned about the growing crowd of people in red and white hovering on the edge of the harbor bridge.

But if we were to miss finals, would we rather finish 9th or 18th? (With the obvious positive of finishing last)
Trust me, you really, really don't want our Swans to finish last after finishing on top last year. You'll be copping it from opposition fans for many years.

It would be far better to miss the finals with a competitive season. You'll still have good wins to savour. The last four times we missed the finals were 1995, 2000, 2002 and 2009 and we were competitive in each of those years. All had good games that made a seasons without finals still enjoyable. The win against Collingwood in the last round of 1995 to keep them out of the finals is one example of the joy that can be had in a season where we don't play finals.

Contrast that with the dark times of the spoon years of 1992 to 1994. 14 months without a win. Epic floggings including being 120 points down at half time against the second-bottom side 19.10 to 0.4 (we lost that by 162 points). One solitary win in 1993 in a season where we were expected to go winless.

So I would rather see our boys be competitive, even if we do miss the finals. I would take 9th over last any day.

The positive out of 1992 - 1994 is they sacked Buckerina. Clearly the worst coach of all time. I recall Barassi saying the first priority was to get them fit.

Positive news - Darcy Cameron extends another year to end of 2019. Coaching staff must rate him. I do, unlike another of our WA ruck recruits, he can mark the ball! That's a start for a key forward/ruck.

Towers is not in the seniors. That's a negative positive, but more a positive than a negative.

He elected to take the option of a trigger clause in his contract which states that a if a ruckman is injured 3 times in one season, he can extend his contract by another year.
