Have mixed feelings about tonight's Hawks / Bullldogs game. Desperately want Hawthorn to win - feel dirty saying that! - so that the Bulldogs slim finals hopes are snuffed out and they're seen as a one hit wonder.

However, Bob Murphy retires and love him for sticking up for Goodesy.

Luke Hodge retires, too. The fawning over him in Victoria has been sickening. He's certainly been a champion footballer and captain but he committed some disgusting acts on the field. It really sticks in my craw that he's receiving such adulation when Goodesy felt he had to retire on the quiet.

No real cause for concern here. The Bulldogs are already gone. I'd like to see to see Hawthorn lose by 100 and Hodge breaks his leg stumbling through the banner.
It's very hard to live in a studio apartment in San Jose with a man who's learning to play violin. That's what she told the police when she handed them the empty revolver.

Poor old Hodgey. I don't usually begrudge people trying to make a living, but apparently he is hosting the GWS Grand Final Lunch
(with Micky O of all people). I guess Luke has used up all his holiday pay from the Hawks already. It was bad enough seeing
him doing those Light & Easy ads. This could get ugly pretty fast.

Always a possibility against the Dullbogs. Ask Kieren and Dan.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

Re Bob Murphy, I agree with Sam Newman.

Call me vendictive if you like but once Buckley left Brisbane I wished through his whole career (playing and coaching) that he wouldn't win a flag. Ditto rocca when he left the swans, and Bob after last year.

                  So far so good.

Could say the same with Paul Roos' kids...

I've heard it said that Newman says what everyone else is thinking. The truth he says what other idiots are thinking.

No Bulldogs or Hawks in the finals this year. Lovely!

Yep! And Collingwood and Carlton couldn't rise to the occasion either. Lovelier!!

Hawks done is a relief .... their game is still a very good lesson in handballing expertise as is Roughhead's kicking for goal - it's an excellent technique.
They won't go away in 2018.

Roll on the apocalypse - it's bad enough I agree with Barry but also Sam Newman. Of course I didn't see the show (last watched about 2006) but I thought at the time that Bob's Premiership performance was in great contrast to Stuey Maxfield who stepped aside in 2005 - despite Roos saying he'd play him - for the Swans to win the flag. During the GF celebrations Stuey was circulating on the ground, celebrating with the boys but not on the stage as the non-playing captain. It will be interesting to see if Bob has a legacy with the Dogs as enduring as Stuey's is at the Swans.

Likewise, and again I didn't expect to say this, but Josh Gibson showed great dignity last night - no being chaired off after he didn't play but turned up to walk off the grounds so the fans could acknowledge him.
