Calls by the bed-wetters on this site that call for Longmire's sacking because of their entitled view that finals should be guaranteed every year and that anything less than a Flag constitutes failure (think about it, if that was the case you'd only have been satisfied as a Swans fans for five seasons in well over 100 years, how depressing) should be treated with the contempt they deserve.

Clearly the season is not going quite to plan but to suggest that Longmire is a bad coach when looking at his record is simply ignorant.

I don't think we're saying he's a bad coach. We are saying the game plan is outdated and the players seem to have stopped listening to him. He needs to reinvent himself very quickly because the talent we have is far far better than the results they are producing.

Can we ask why the SCG was so wet when we're clearly a dry weather team? It was NOT a dewy night and there was no reason for the ground to be like it was unless it had been watered way beyond what it should have been. It reminded me of Nick Davis v Geelong in 2005.

The SCG is a cricket ground, where they permit footy to be played during the off season.

Maybe "it's time" for people to swallow a decent dose of realism and to accept that our slow start to the year was due to injuries to important players, not only to blokes unable to play but causing interrupted preseasons to others. (We would have surely beaten Collingwood, probably the dogs and the Eagles and perhaps the Power, all of whom we were on terms with and probably lacked the steadiness of the older hands in the final stages). The two weeks before we played Hawthorn we played slick, quick high scoring football (just the way people on RWO are advocating we play). I admit we played below our best in the first half on Friday night but played without our best ball winner for the entire game and our swingman for more than a half. Had the siren gone a couple of minutes early or Mills kicked that goal, people would have been lauding the team and the coaches for their never say die attitude.

Sure they didn't give up and I'm proud of the players, just not the coaches box....when we're challenged by being outcoached, we still don't have a plan B and that's the coaches fault......they need to adapt better when they're being outcoached, as we constantly are against Hawthorn......and I don't care how tired he was but Mills should still hang his head in shame.....inexcusable miss.

Horse is quite obviously an excellent coach, as was Roos before him.

Hindsight shows that Roos's exit was beautifully timed. He handed over a relatively new list, which still had some good bones from the past...All with good footy habits.

Horse comes in with some new ideas and strategies ( the 'absorb pressure then slingshot' comes to mind) and he takes the club to 3 GFs in 5 years.

I see some similarities to the end of the Roos era...We are fast developing a new look team, with plenty of good bones attached.

Maybe it's time for another transition, in the next year or so, to herald in some new thinking, to what is still an excellent list.

Longmire was a player manager with IMG before he came to the Swans so a move into management makes sense if he wants to stay in Sydney at the end of his contract - we signed Dew to a long term deal as the senior assistant and logical replacement and Ireland advised he is retiring at the end of next season with Harley the logical successor - i gather the assistants were OK last year but have fallen in a hole like the team this year - you keep Longmire and Blakey around you have a good chance of keeping their kids as well - hope that is constructive enough for you unless of course you want to blow the place up which i don't - players make the coach

I was a bit quick off the mark earlier and now see that all those scenario's are quite possible. It was just one after the other and I thought you were being sarcastic. My mistake..... Still not sure Dew is the answer though.....didn't impress as mids coach, but I'd support his selection if the club thought it was the best way to go.

I don't think its bed-wetting at 3-7, if so its now a waterbed!

Nobody thinks there is an entitlement to finals but does anyone honestly think Collingwood, Hawthorn and Carlton are better sides than Sydney, even with the injuries. I was willing to give him to the end of the year but the shambolic performance against Hawthorn shows that despite all the evidence that we shouldn't playing keeping offs we did. I am sorry but that is appalling coaching. Since every player did I can't imagine that its the players not listening either.

With the talent we have we are are a top 8 side, we need to make hay whilst the sun shines a few injuries and some players leaving could easily see us a bottom 8 side.

Longmire has set a wonderful foundation but the games has moved on and he hasn't. I wouldn't go with any of the current assistants, we can keep them but we need an external voice coming on. I think its been far too cosy in the coaches box for too long. Be bold like the Bulldogs

Oh dear, we are 3-7 and the world is going to end. Nurse grab the diapers now!!

3-7 is not ideal but the first five rounds we were cruelled by an injury count as high as I can remember. At AFL level games are won or lost on such fine margins, you won't here the coaches blaming injuries but can you possibly think we'd have lost to the Pies with Heeney, Rampe, Papley , Rohan and Tippett instead of Foote, Fox, Marsh, Sinclair and Dawson?

Carlton was totally unacceptable but apart from that they've tried hard. And the loss against the Hawks whilst disappointing was hardly shambolic as you say - they had their chances and lost them but that is football. Watching Hawthorn at the moment is like watching an ageing champion in any sport, the legs are not willing but they are still smart and tough and find a way to win because they are one of the champion teams if all time and they'll win a few more games this year too. So to view a loss to them as a disgrace is a bit harsh.

I'll be reserving my judgement until the end of the season on both the team and our coaching team and try and enjoy the rest of the season as much as I can, I reckon you'd enjoy it more if you could do the same......

Many won't share this view but I'm going to view the ladder for the last 16 games at the end of the year as an alternate indicator of our season, if we can go 10-6 over that period I'll be mildly satisfied with the season after our start
