I too thought he looked winded. You can exaggerate going to ground etc. but that pained look as you struggle for air would be difficult to mimic. Pleased to hear about Smith's comments.

Interesting article re Papley who has apparently modelled himself as a small forward on Puopolo.

What Sydney Swans gun Tom Papley learnt from Hawks star Paul Puopolo

It is so hard to tell. I have certainly seen Papley throw his head back upon receiving high contact (as many in the AFL do), but it doesn't take much for a player to feel the effects of a punch given out in the right spot when vulnerable. Even with the Hodge incident the week before, that may have just been his natural reaction to the hit rather than a conscious decision to go to ground.

I suppose that is what the radio broadcasts are for - to sensationalise the incident to an aggrieved audience (i.e. anyone who doesn't barrack for the Swans). I doubt that view will fly with Whateley on 360, or The Offsiders, but we'll wait and see.

Except that we were playing Geelong. He's nothing but a fanboy when it comes to the Cats.

Whateley believes he's the Messiah for all matters regarding sport. Absolute tosspot!

He seemed to fall awkwardly on an ankle on the far side of the ground. I thought at the time that Mr Fragile has done it again. When he ran to gather the ball and snap for goal at the start of the last quarter he seemed to gather the ball in slow motion and not with his usual quickness.

Not sure if it showed on the TV but Geelong constantly kept trying to switch play - and the Swans kept them in check 95% of the time - so they had lots of cheap disposals but were stopped and repelled by our half back line.
Our talls kept the ball in and gave chances then to the smalls Papley, Hayward , Heeney and co.

It was great to enjoy a couple of days in Sleepy Hollow.

You could see that on TV. Swans did the same with devastating effect v Saints when I went to the SCG.

Earlier in the year teams were switching play against us with ease.

You wont get any arguments from Gerard about that.

The Back Page Live at least takes the p$&$ out of all sport .... would never miss it especially with Skull a regular panellist these days.
