Can anyone shed some light on the mid year rookie draft? My understanding is that if a player is on the long term injury list then you can bring in another rookie mid year. If that is the case I can see the temptation of adding AJ to our list again and moving to the LTI list, giving us some flexibility if we need a specific type of player

Don’t u love it when u walk a coffee shop first thing in the morning and the only other person at the counter waiting for a cuppa is plugger
And I showed restraint and didn’t ask immediately “Tom McCartin- does he kick straight at training “?
Lol"be tough, only when it gets tough"

Looks like Freo are trying to get out of the Harley Bennell contract just after giving him a year's extension. At his best, he's an unbelievable player. He's 26 too. But it's been a long time since he has put together any decent run at footy. Add in the d###head factor. Do we give him a shot and hope our strong culture stacks up?Comment

+1Not necessarily for season 2019. There could be a decent free agent available at the end of 2019 that they've been talking to. We know the Buddy move was being discussed privately a year before it happened. Maybe they see now as a good opportunity to clear some cap space, maybe bring some cap payments forward if there is surplus in 2018, and be ready to pounce at the end of next year.
The counter-thought process to that is that it would be rather nice to be in with a chance of a premiership while Buddy is still playing at a high level. To do that, our midfield does need to deepen and strengthen. Deferring that for a year reduces the time frame for seriously contending with Buddy by a year.
We, Geelong & Hawthorn are the most vulnerable dropping out of the top 8 next year IMO. Horse himself said you need to keep improving just to finish in the same spot. If we don't adequately replace Hanners & Rohan (assuming they get traded) we'll be the most vulnerable of the 3, notwithstanding the potential flow on effects of a returning Reid, Naismith, Mills and Melican playing full seasons.Comment
