So at this stage, players who are either likely, or at least a chance, of coming to the Swans are......
1) Duryea - 27 yrs (Hawks)
2) Clarke - 21 yrs(Kangas)
3) Vandenberg - 26 yrs (Demons)
4) Jonas - 27yrs(Power)
5) Perhaps a Saints player as part of the Hannebery trade
It's not a bad bunch of inexpensive players all in their prime, other than Clarke who has it all before him.
We certainly seem to have moved away (for now at least) from the big fish strategy, which has had a mixed result.Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it's time to pause and reflect... MTComment

Jonas would be expensive in trade and salary terms; the other Port defender we've been mooted (by ugg) to be interested in - Dougal Howard - would be cheaper and I think still good.
Listening to Harley on SEN breakfast earlier in the week, I doubt we'll pick up a St Kilda player, which is fine by me.Comment

This is surprising, pretty interesting: Nick Bowen on Twitter: "Understand Andrew Gaff is in process of informing people he's staying with Eagles. Story on https://t.co/uhKzivxFan shortly".Comment

Still think we need to urgently recruit an A grade midfielder to replace Hannebery (assuming he'll get to Saints). Despite his past 2 seasons performances hampered by interrupted pre-seasons, I still class Hanners as an A grader overall. I rate Dom Tyson who I think can easily become an A grader who is linked to Essendon. I really wish there is a smidgeon of truth with that Jackson MacRae rumour even though it seems sooooo outlandish the Dogs would even consider being open to a trade with 4 years remaining on his contract.Last edited by KSAS; 7 October 2018, 02:54 PM.Comment

I still think the priority is to get a tall forward to support Buddy.
We are way too reliant on a bloke who is 31 already.
Sam Reid is 27, injury prone and only averages a goal a game.
McCartin will be a good solid 3rd banana/utility but not a a gun.Last edited by Muttley; 7 October 2018, 03:58 PM.Comment

I think Sinclair will fill the 2nd tall roll next year, either rotating with Cameron or playing predominately forward with Naismith rucking. We also have Reid, McCartain, Blakey, Dawson and Amartey who could all play tall in the forward line so I think the priority is to get guys who can rebound out of defense and distribute from midfield (inside and out). We have won games in the past with both Buddy and Reid out and the tallest option being Rohan, built on the back of midfield dominance and hard pressure up forward by our smalls.Comment

Agree with you there Mut, but he seems to be moving ok. He is a proven finals player and a good finisher in attack. A rookie spot might just be worth the risk.Comment
