      We had 26 33 38 39 40 going into the draft. Traded 26 out and at the time of Blakey’s bid 33 38 39 40 had become 34 39 40 41 due to some other clubs’ matching.

We matched with 34 39 40 and got back 47 and 97. After more matching by others, 41 moves back to 40 as well as 47 to 45 and 97 to 95.

He would be an interesting player for us. Need another indigenous talent in the side with Buddy!

I'm not as excited by the trade as I was during the brief period when it looked like Collier-Dawkins might slide all the way to that pick. But that was probably always wishful thinking.

I think we need to draft at least one, maybe two, true onballers but there are quite a lot in this draft and the club may back themselves to get two with the last two picks we'll use. (I note that we apparently showed some interest in Jy Bolton pre-draft, and he might be available at our last pick. He has the advantage of being a bit older and hence could make a useful contribution next year.)

So maybe the next pick will be used on someone who isn't a pure midfielder, not yet, anyway. Tom McKenzie is one rated around the 20s. He's quick and, although described as a rebounding defender (something I don't think we should be targeting unless they are clearly best available, not after taking Stoddart and Ling last year), some pundits have talked up his contested ball winning ability, so he could shape as a pacey midfielder.

I'm not overly enthused by Ian Hill (who would be regarded as a bit of a slider at this stage) but a bid on Connor McFayden might be in order, even though the Lions will probably match. Curtis Taylor could be an interesting option. He's a medium sized forward - a Menzel type by the sound of things - but that might not be a bad thing. I see Ronke's future in the midfield and who knows where Hayward will settle.)

If we want another tall defender there aren't many in this year's draft. Koschitzke is meant to be the best remaining. He may be available at our pick in the early 40s but maybe not, given how few there are.

On the midfield front, Luke Valente may not be the most exciting player left in the draft pool but he sounds highly dependable and he captained the SA U18 team.

I assume WC will take Hill and the Crows Valente which gives us a free choice on the rest of the field. Doubt we would upset the Lions by bidding on McFadyen. We would have to be looking at someone who is not going to last another 15 picks. If we really want to upset Eddie we could go Kelly then Scott to upset North. Kelly would be a fair bid but I doubt we would do this. Eagles happy to drop in the swap fairly confident they will get their second pick tomorrow and still get Cameron. Will see tomorrow. I thought pick swapping was unlikely to happen but this two part deal with the Eagles has really shaken things up.

I wonder if WB would be interested in trading their picks 30 and 35 for our picks 25 and 46. It might let them get another pick before a bid comes for Rylee West. It could benefit both clubs.

I've just been doing some research and watched a few videos of players around our mark. The player I really like after that is Jez McLellan. I understand that we ended up trading for Thurlow but with our pursuit of Langdon, it is clear that this is the sort of player we are after.

With all the talk around South Australia’s top four, as well as Valente, McLennan has gone about his business well, and is that defender who should be available to most clubs, and a player that will be reliable for years to come. Has SANFL League experience too with Central District, not looking out of place against men, and showing off his elite kicking skills. Adelaide might want to pounce with their last first round pick, but there will be no shortage of clubs in the market for a “quarter-back”.

Don't mind the look of Curtis Taylor here Liz. Agreed he looks a lot like a Menzel type player and agree that's not a bad thing. Looks like a natural footballer who is smart and has good skills and knows how to take a mark and more importantly for us, kick a goal or 2!

Seems a little short at 183cm for an intercept defender but the comments and highlights sound and look good. Could be the ideal replacement for Nick Smith for the future. Would love for him to be 5 or 6 cm taller though like Langdon!

Some brilliant moves. I hear a few clubs are annoyed by it, even though it's legal. Hope the AFL doesn't penalise us again. Had a look at Blakey highlights, Gee he has a great pair of hands in the marking contests!

Thanks, I was looking for that calculation. So we moved up an equivalent of a round this year in exchange for moving back a round next year. The value is that we get a second rounder this year instead of none this year and two next year.
