Ok outcome, given we are actively still chasing some players this year, and are accumulating picks to do that... plus get Blakey.. plus a 2nd rounder in the draft this year.Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it's time to pause and reflect... MTComment

If the Saints were just taking on his existing contract it might be fair to characterise it as a salary cap exercise. But the fact they've offered him 1-2 further years (on similar money, as far as we can tell) indicates they value him more highly than that. I know I do.Comment

Looks like we've been positioning ourselves first before making moves. Looks good so far. Getting the extra pick for pick 13 looks like great business and I'm very happy with Clarke for Rohan. The pick we received for Gaz doesn't matter when we were able to simply pass it on to North to get the player we wanted.Today's a draft of your epitaphComment

I know part of the 2nd rd stockpiling is paying for Blakey, but I wonder if part of it is also building a nice little pile for some more horse trading later in the trade period, once its clearer where all the other clubs end up. For a 1st rd draft pick is only really of high value to us if we think we will actually be able to use it, in addition to getting Blakey."You get the feeling that like Monty Python's Black Knight, the Swans would regard amputation as merely a flesh wound."Comment

Its really hotting up in the trading now! I think that realistically we are probably looking at that latest Saints' pick in the 30s as our compensation for Hanners. Another pick would be great but I'm not hopeful on that. I'm excited if we can prise Langdon out of Collingwood.

St.Kilda better start moving - they are running low on options in my opinion. You can tell they wanted other players in addition to Hannebery but none are looking to go there it seems. Might be good for us.Comment

I wonder if Newman may end up at Gold Coast Suns now? He'd get a regular game there thats for sure and Dew may like his ability to find and dispose of the ball.Comment

As I said before...IMO Hannebery = Pick 39 plus next years 2nd rounder...
They are allegedly offering him 5 years on $800k, that means they rate him much higher than just pick 39.
No need for the Swans going soft on this one. Saints need this trade to go through more than we do.
If he gets his body right he still has plenty to offer, so wouldn't be unhappy if he stayed.Last edited by ernie koala; 10 October 2018, 12:08 PM.Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it's time to pause and reflect... MTComment
