I think the bar has been lifted again

We have key players moving out next coupe of years

2019/20 is a window opportunity if we get the trades right, keep our young guys developing (we were the 2nd youngest team in the Comp in the finals)

We have reinvested with youth the last few years and next two years we should start seeing the benefit if we can have a few more 24/26 yr old recruits to bring their experience, training standards and desire to achieve before getting too old and missing the chance

Not a great retrun for a #6 pick, but if you had his output for a #61 pick you’d probably be fairly happy

I think we should have a serious chat with Bennell. Run him through a medical.
He is a gun player. Gold coast was a nightmare culture and Freo is worse because he is hanging around with a bunch of ratbags from his youth and some b grade wannabe gangsters and bikies.
A fresh start in Sydney could be exactly the ticket provided his body is sound and he is genuinely wanting an afl career.
If he doesn't want to play footy any more then he should just walk away from the game.

On the brighter side. Langdon had a medical today with the Swans. Signs are looking good!

Rohan had become a list clogger.

Can we assume they approached approached Hannebery to do the same before St Kilda & Melbourne came knocking?
Yes. But earlier and with more subtlety.

This is a line in the sand year with the list. I wonder if the tough decisions began once we fell out of the eight and finals looked unlikely.

A decision has been taken on a number of players including Hanners, Rohan, Towers, Newman that they are not part of our future and will be moved on.

I’m very excited that they are pulling the trigger on moving Jones, Mills and others onto the ball. Although I’d feel more confident if a 25 year old elite midfielder was in the works.

I commend your thinking but we have a "No Dickheads Policy", Muttley. Probably eliminates him from contention.

I always felt a bit conflicted about the vandenBerg trade. He wanted to stay with Melbourne and was only considering us because of difficult personal circumstances.
While he would have been a good player, I'm happy for him that he's chosen Melbourne. Go well him.

One man's 'dickhead' is another man's best mate. Fairly subjective judgment. Who is the arbiter of a 'dickhead'.
That is why I said have a serious chat with him and see if he has any insight in to his conduct. At least have a chat.

Would Langdon bother to have a medical unless he was very serious about a move?

Or is it a stunt to get more money at the Pies?

It’s a lot of trouble to get more money from the Pies. He may be genuinely torn like many others this time of year.

I guess he had it on the basis he was going overseas, so that options are open should we make a good offer.

Well, if it was a 61 pick showing that sort of flair, then I would have been overjoyed. But after a while, I would've forgotten that they were taken at 61, and then I would have expected them to get more of the football.

I don't know about Langdon, but I always suspected that Moore and his manager's main aim, was to extract a bit more money out of Collingwood. If I remember rightly, the possibility of him moving to us, was leaked a long time before anyone at the Swans mentioned it. And since Eddie is a bit paranoid about most things Swans, then it's easy to imagine him believing an unfounded rumour and then upping the offer accordingly.
