Thank goodness for that......we don't need to be recruiting potential injury liabilities. Add to that, he hasn't really proved himself to be a gun whose at the level of Gaff or Shiel or even will be.Comment

I am not sure how that is relevant to what you asked. You suggested that if a player doesn't commit to his existing team before the end of the season, in all likelihood he is gone. While that is probably true more often than not, the two examples I provided show that sometimes players do wait but then decide to stay put.Comment

They are very good examples of how players do wait until September to renew contracts. However, my feeling is that there is a milestone moment when the season is actually over for the team. Exit interviews are completed and players go on leave. Therefore, I feel Lloyd is a different case based on this. It's true that Moore and Gaff could also sign before their teams' seasons are over but if they don't I feel that they will also fall into this category.Comment

It's been reported Rory Lobb wants to go back to WA: Giants ruckman seeking move back to WA - DIGITAL SPORTS RADIO.
I don't know whether that means they're more likely to afford Shiel.Comment

Dusty Martin re-signed on 31 August last year, prior to the finals commencingComment

Could be an interesting experiment with possibly a huge payoff if it succeeded.

If Lloyd were a done deal and he had formally requested a trade, would the club not have announced this in the way that they have Hannebery and Rohan? The fact they haven't suggests to me that contract negotiations are ongoing, even if Lloyd is leaning towards accepting another offer.Comment

I think that would be an interesting experiment also. He obviously has talent so I hope we don't just delist him. I would also like to see him have a big pre-season and push for a spot in the midfield as I believe he has some assets that we don't have a lot of in there being a bit of flair and real pace.

We have a waning team playing under a coach who may be getting a little stale...
I hope he's up to the challenge of making decisive difficult decisions when required...Only time will tell.Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it's time to pause and reflect... MTComment
