Aren't they? I thought it was they who raised his name as being part of the trade- ie they want something decent back from Hawthorn and pick 15 (alone) aint gonna cut it.

Hopefully the white-knuckle pick swapping makes for higher draftees, better chance of white-knuckle players.

I read Hawks suggested him Category: | Herald Sun

PORT Adelaide is still to be sold on Hawthorn defender Ryan Burton in the rocky trade for contracted midfielder-forward Chad Wingard that is expected to drag to Wednesday’s deadline...

Hawthorn’s first offer of pick No.15 and South Australian Burton remains short of Port Adelaide’s first preferences for 25-year-old Wingard.

Coach Ken Hinkley’s first demand - before Wingard had nominated Hawthorn as his club of choice - of two first-round draft picks appears out of reach with the Hawks.

They currently have picks No.15, 35 and 53 and either 35 or 53 are to be traded for Greater Western Sydney midfielder Tom Scully...

It was the Hawks who put up Burton for the trade rather than the Power asking for him.

              Depends what you read

The Power have identified Burton as the key to releasing Wingard, informing him he would be used in a variety of roles if he moves to Alberton.

My understanding is Hawthorn suggested Burton, Port were weighing it up.

I’m not sure if the Age is ahead or behind the other media with this article

Meanwhile Port has rejected Hawthorn’s offer of pick 15 and Ryan Burton in exchange for Chad Wingard.

The Power want more than Hawthorn’s first pick and Burton and have not yet done a medical on him. Until they do a medical and reassure themselves about concerns about Burton’s knees they are not convinced about the former first round draft pick being involved in any trade arrangement for Wingard.

The Australian reports that Harry Marsh us exploring his options.

I would think that any of our uncontracted fringe players would be mad to not be exploring their options.

Yep, Hawks look like landing 2 A grade midfielders and a recent top 10 draftee

We're targeting a few B graders and can't even land them

Hawks seem to be making an artform of picking up injured players at a discount and fixing them

Gave pick 19 for former pick 2 Jono O'Rourke from memory, that's a fail.

Not always, last year got pick 2 from GC for Weller.

Gold Coasts trading last year goes down as the all time worse trading. Did some absolutely dumb pick trading with West Coast and then got screwed by Freo, epic fail!

See Cornes is outraged at the potential Scully trade (but not at the Hanners one)

                              Category: | Herald Sun

PORT Adelaide champion Kane Cornes has called on the AFL to intervene in a planned trade that would see Tom Scully move to Hawthorn in a swap for a late draft pick.

Cornes was outraged that a top-four team could potentially land one of the competition's best midfielders for a pick in the 50s.

Scully was rated elite in many categories in 2016-17 but suffered a shocking ankle injury in Round 2 that has dealt a major blow to his trade worth as he seeks a return home to Victoria.

"I know he's had ankle (problems) but Tom Scully is an elite midfielder of the competition," Cornes said on Trade Radio.

"The AFL just can't allow him to walk for pick 53 to one of the strongest clubs in the competition.

"There must be some restrictions … it has to be a first-round draft pick, surely. The AFL must step in."

So you'd think that the Hawks will have trading restrictions put on them for the next three years over the Scully deal?
                                Wow. Gobsmacking.
