I think today's three picks are all for the future, kids that are coming from a way back but improving as the year has progressed. Full confidence in the recruiters to take these types whilst ignoring the more obvious. Let's see first if the overlooked end up stars!Comment

Foot looks like a great mover.
Pity we still don't have Foote on our list. Plural Feet (or was it Feete)He had observed that people who did lie were, on the whole, more resourceful and ambitious and successful than people who did not lie.Comment

Suggestions that Rowbottom might be able to play next year in his draft write-up: "It is clear though that Rowbottom is a ready-made prospect who can have an immediate impact if given the chance amongst more mature bodies given his aptitude in contested situations."Comment

Can't say I'm really sold on our 2nd and 3rd selections (with my limited knowledge of the young talent), but I really like Foot, there's just something about the way he moves and the options he takes that makes me think he's going to be a really good playerComment

James Rowbottom Vic Metro/Oakleigh Chargers/Camberwell Sharks
19/09/2000 Height: 185cm Weight: 78kg
Medium midfielder who is good at stoppages using his clean hands and vision to set up the play. Tackles aggressively and is capable of playing a running role and winning the ball one-on-one. A strong and consistent performer for Vic Metro averaging 18.8 disposals across his four matches of the NAB AFL Under-18 Championships.Comment

Sydney Stack did not get picked up. Wonder why clubs passed up on him when he was listed at 34 on the Fox Footy ranking? His highlights reel looked impressive enough. Should get picked up in the Rookie draft you'd think?
Going by our 3 selections outside Blakey we seem to have a different player ranking than most. We overlooked Valente and Bytel when we had chance to pick up either, but we seemed to have definitely targeted midfield types which we do need. This is despite club saying they work on a best available policy. Time will be the judge of course on whether we made astute selectionsComment

If these are true, I won't be surprised to see him continue to get overlooked in the rookie draft. If a club thought they could work with him to overcome whatever those issues are, they would have probably taken that punt in the National Draft.Comment

Does anyone know what time the rookie draft is scheduled to start?
We don't have a whole heap of picks this year. Maybe just two onto the Cat A list and up to two onto the Cat B list (plus redrafting Tippett). Or if Bell is a Cat A rookie this season there's only only Cat A spot available (ex Tippett) and up to three Cat B spots.Comment
