Think Parker will be OK. He was trying to get the ball. Surely?!?

Generous extensive interview with Ben and he handled it astonishingly well.

Mcveigh was sensational. So cool under pressure - because he has played in GF's. So too Kieren Jack. Disagree with the earlier poster that he is past it. Jack too is cool under pressure. Jones was magnificent tonight BOG for mine. McCartin as an experiment for me was a waste . Was out of his depth. Would have preferred Fox by a mile. Oliver is good but he made a couple of bad decisions tonight - perhaps getting a bit above himself. Hayward great. What has Newman done not to get a game? Keep playing the young guys I say. Hannaberry will have to wait IMO until the young guys start to drop off. Heeney started the season looking super fit but he too tends to make some dumb decisions and hang on to the ball too long at times. But that is pressure and they all did well tonight. How good is the backline - Grundy, Rampe, Lloyd and Smithy. Thought Robinson was OK tonight and Harry Cunningham was fabulous.

Disagree, McCartin was very good at bringing the ball to ground, giving a contest and his chasing was also excellent. Mature beyond his years.

He is just trying a bit too hard at the moment in my opinion, just needs to focus a bit more on doing the basics as well as he can.

All young players, even the best, are up and down at times. Heeney and Mills are no different.

I stand by my comment. He hasn't been absolutely terrible, but having watched every game this season, he hasn't been the elite-level he is capable of.

As for our best and fairest (i.e. MVP to us Yanks), I would argue it has been Sinclair. He has been solid in the ruck this season....kicked far beyond what I thought he was capable of...he has been just tremendous!

For what it's worth, Ch 7 reckons McVeigh is fine. Parker iffy "but was going for the ball and Impey played out the game". On the replay it was more a glancing hip/buttock to the side of Impey's head. Imagine the uproar if Parks gets off after NicNat's suspension.

Weird game.......seven goal kickers in all, three for us.

                    GOALS
Hawthorn: Gunston 5, Breust 3, Roughead, Morrison
Sydney: Ronke 7, Hayward 3, Parker 2 .......very strange.

I really liked what I saw tonight - did some really good stuff I thought for a young guy on a tough night for a key forward playing his first game. Looks to be a popular guy round the club and has some talent. A long way to go of course, but I can definitely see why we picked him up. Happy for him to be picked until Budster/Reid comes back. Certainly helped create some structure up forward which really helped.

Just a great win for the club tonight. Lots of young players coming of age, Ronke of course, Hayward solid as a rock, Florent running his legs off and stepping up at the death, McCartin debuting and creating a contest. I think we have lifted the Hawthorn curse.

                          What a game.

The first 5-10 mins were critical imo with the chipping through the backline in setting the tone. Made it clear to Clarkson that he couldn?t just pull numbers away from the ball as they?ve done with the last few games flooding our backline to open up our forward line.

Grundy was immense tonight. Flipped the bird to the peanut gallery.

The fact Impey played out the game is a good sign for Parker. But who knows with that muppet Michael Christian.. Ryan Burton got off after electing to bump and hospitalizing a player

If Tom Mitchell can elbow Todd Goldstein in the back of the head and get away with it, I'm sure McVeigh will be fine. It's all about the impact and the result of the contact for the AFL MRP.

Also, I haven't seen him mentioned yet, but Cunningham quietly claims another scalp this year. Shut down the potentially damaging Isaac Smith who had just 16 disposals tonight and Harry had 27 himself.

Our oldest goal kicker was 25 tonight.

The Parker clash was made a lot worse from the Small tap Impey got to the ball which pushed it past Parker. Hard to say what the outcome will be but definitely didn?t hurt that Impey played out the game
