Lots of poor effort in th second half. Allir Aliir effort at the end was woeful. He has no core strength whatsoever . Rampe letting Gunston take that short kick in 3rd quarter, woeful. Newman getting push off the ball so easily in the last quarter. Poor core strength. Fox is not up to AFL standard. We will get easily beaten in the finals. Just making up the numbers.

Nothing in the one tonight - was purely accidental as the dawks player was getting slung in a tackle himself.

Overall though, under the circumstances, I thought we played pretty well tonight, showed a lot of fight and the young guys served us quite well.....all good for experience. We get a home final but I would have preferred to be playing Richmond at the MCG in two weeks of course. We need the week off.....

I reckon there are teams in the top four that will smash Hawthorn, I can see them going out in straight sets. We will probably go further.....

The 4th Q was Hawthorn's. Their control of the ball was more defined than ours which depends too much on kick and hope. Our mistakes were largely due to the Hawks' pressure, and under pressure we missed goals we should have scored. And as usual we didn't man up when we should have.

Nevertheless we had some positives: they all worked hard and did some good things, we got a good workout without losing anyone, and the younger ones got a hard lesson in high pressure football. And we won't be playing Richmond in the first round.

We did well overall, but so frustrating to be in a position to win the game and not be able to finish it off. A good learning experience no doubt, and the young guys in particular did well I though. A couple of them quiet, but we did a lot of things right.

We looked pretty good for most of the night but some poor efforts in that last quarter. Missing a lot of key players tonight. I think Smith would've made a huge difference nullifying puopolo

As said above, the Hawks are average at best. What @@@@s me is when the media say the quickest rebuild ever. Yes Mitchell, O'Meara, Frawley all came to the club via rookie picks on about 800K each I imagine...Utter CRAP.

They won't do any better than us. In fact, if we get a reasonable fit Parker and Buddy we are a better chance than them.

Well done George - great job of application.

Aliir and Dawson both made critical mistakes at times but gotta keep playing them.

Sinclair great. Much respect from me - he has busted his gut this year.

A valiant effort by the Swans. Everyone has injuries (well, except the bloody Tigs) but let's remember...no Franklin, no Parker, no Reid, no Smith, no Melican, no Mills and anyone remember a guy named Naismith? The Swans played forwards that are very young. A little over a month ago this team lost to Gold Coast by a bunch...and were written off for dead. Once again, they show signs of life and that they are the class of the AFL. The Hawks have won the honor (unless Brisbane does something unexpected) of being smashed by Richmond...just like the Swans would have. I know the homer commentators say "beware the Hawks" but it is all hype...they were lucky to escape St. Kilda last week. It would have been nice to have the second life but all in all, it was a smart play to rest Buddy and Parker for two weeks and give the Swans the best chance to win in the bottom half of the eight.

I must say, I don't know what to make of Aliir Aliir. I confess I am a bit of a detractor of his and I have been called out on it by others on this board (probably rightly so). He seems to be amazingly physical and uncatchable on the run. He makes fantastic spoils. But whenever he has the ball...I hold my breath and pray he doesn't turn it over. His best option is to turn and kick a short one to another teammate. I just don't see how that can be successful when a team needs to transition or the ball needs to be disposed under pressure. He is flashy as hell, but to me, I will take consistent over flashy any day and I just wonder if he has the ability to take it to the next level.

Cheer up boys and girls...the Swans made finals again during a transition year with a big youth movement! This team always competes and few other teams have been able to do it with this consistency for the past 20 years!

Much as I like AA as a player his efforts tonight probably cost us the game however I don’t think he will play that badly again in the near future

Hate losing to those pricks but no real effect on our finals chances

We weren’t beating the Tigers at the G anyway

                              Simple equation now is.....

Giants win tomorrow......we play Geelong at home in the first week.

Demons win tomorrow....we play Giants at home in the first week.

                                I hate losing to Hawthorn!!!

We just didn't have enough contributors in the end. We needed to make the most of our opportunities in the second quarter when we had control of the game.

Our forward line didn't function very well. They all kept running and jumping at the ball when it came in and there was no space.

Hopefully Buddy and Parker are right for the final...we really missed them tonight.

Hanners couldn't move after that corkie. Don't want him playing unless he is fit.

We'll either be playing Geelong if GWS wins or GWS if Melbourne wins.
