From goswannete: “wasn’t that ironic? Aliir hasn’t been able to hold the ball all night and he’s pinged for holding the ball!”

Good 2nd quarter there - we wasted some chances to put more on the scoreboard, but there was some genuinely good signs in the way we controlled the first half of the quarter in particular. Aliir having a shocker - someone needs to reassure him at half time, as there is plenty of time to make amends.

Really liking the game of Hayward tonight - hasn't quite finished a couple of good chances he has had, but working hard and doing a lot of good stuff. Hewett having a good one too yet again - gee he is getting better week in week out.
"You get the feeling that like Monty Python's Black Knight, the Swans would regard amputation as merely a flesh wound."

I think Aliir has shown he is solid when it comes to playing hard defense and shutting the opposition down...especially late in the game. The problem is he utterly lacks kicking skill and is a liability when it comes to the transition game. Would be awesome if the Swans had Melican and Mills to rotate in depending on the game situation.

Jones has been outstanding. McVeigh and Jack have been solid and even Hanners has been relatively mistake free.

Swans need to keep up the intensity...the Hawks will not be fading away in the second...

I agree with this. Didn't like seeing Hanners berate him.

With Aliir I think it's a confidence thing - I hope A coach can help him to settle down. Normally his hands are pretty reliable.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

Aliir has plenty of excellent defensive work in the bank, he’ll be OK.

Sometimes a spray from a teammate can do wonders, think Kirky and Nick Davis in the ‘05 semi.

Yes totally agree Dan is hardly playing well enough to point the finger of blame at others. I feel that AA is probably a total confidence player so if you run him down you run the risk that you will bring him down

Yes, I did think of Clarkson, there.

I'm starting to think of Chamberlain as the anti-Stevic. It would be interesting to see them umpiring a future Swans/Hawks game. It may come to blows.

Really think that Hewett is doing a job on Mitchell. Hope that keeps up. I was also pleased that Ray pinged Mitchell for his trademark scoop/throw, that other umpires let him get away with, over and over again.

Yes, I accidently added his five today to his already updated tally.

Sounds like Hewett has moved off Mitchell. Stay on him wherever he goes.

                                Soft Aliir. No tackle attempt

Fair call Macca. Hanners ALWAYS seems to cop a life threatening injury
