I'm expecting to make finals pretty comfortably next year with the younger brigade really maturing with the game time they got this year.....and hopefully Buddy can get fully fit as well and Reid can do a 2017 and string a full season together.
It's not time to throw the dummy out of the cot.

Anyone else watching fox? Notice hanners crying when coming off ? That tells me he’s gone , getting smashed in an elimination doesn’t normally get the tears going , looks like a man who knows he’s played his last game for the swans .

Dean Margetts should be named and shamed. If not, I seriously question the integrity of this game.Comment

The I50 count was 63-39, which was typical of our year. The amazing thing about the year is that we made the finals, thanks mainly to other clubs doing even worse, rather than us playing well.
I'm not disappointed. It's hard to be disappointed when expectations are realistic.
I'm not buying into any of the negativity about coaching, game plan, midfield woes, etc. We took a big hit this year in the midfield with Hanners and Jack falling off the edge, a couple of years before some of our younger midfielders had a chance to step up.
I've been saying for a while that we are rebuilding on the run. I think it's looking promising, but we won't see how it pans out for a few years. It's by no means a disaster, i.e. rebuilding during this period when Richmond are so strong and Melbourne are becoming a force to be reckoned with. I hope we can stay competitive over the next few years. I think we can with a bit of luck on the injury front.
Hoping we do a few good things in the post season to boost our spirits going into 2019.Comment

You could be right. It's hard to know how I feel about that. On one hand, he's been a great servant to the club, who has relentlessly busted a gut for the cause. So, I would like to see him come good and play out his career at the club. On the other hand, he has hardly played a good game, since being taken out in the 2016 GF. Today, he looked cooked after about ten minutes. So, in that situation, it would be nice to get whatever we can for him, via a trade.Comment

As for Mitchell, the players player of the year wouldn't improve the Swans even if he is slow? Your kidding!
Buddy is the best player in the game but he makes our side so predictable that if he doesn't fire we don't win, it's still a team game which means you need more than just Buddy. The fact that Clarkson was able to win without him says every thing.
He is great to watch, great theater, great for attendances, and will win a number of matches off his own boot. But when you have no other class around him its not enough to win a premiership.
Going for Tippett and then Buddy has ruined our salary cap and caused us to lose too much mid tier strength. In the end the 10 year offer was a step too far, we of course, should have made an offer if the Hawks matched it so be bit. I think we could have got him for less since he wanted to be with his Mrs.Comment

All in all it was a difficult year with critical injuries playing a major role, especially Buddy being unfit for most of the year and to a lesser extent Reid not being available.
Sinclair held the fort well for Naismith but in Reids absence he should have been a marking forward option.
We clearly have a midfield shortage and the youngsters aren't quite there yet but there is reason to look forward to next year with a healthy list and some smart recruiting

So we come back next year with revenge in our hearts and a determination never to be beaten like that again? This can be our motivation....
As for Kennedy- I believe he is injured, I think Buddy is too. Perhaps it's time to say goodbye to Hanners with our thanks and best wishes.. I think we need a good half forward. I know we have Reid, but we need him fit and in form. For the rest, hopefully this experience will burn in their hearts and they will come out firing next year. That's all I've got....
I am very disappointed of course, but pleased that we have promoted some young and promising players this year...Still proudly Sydney...Comment

We are still too reliant on goals from stoppages when the competition trend led by Richmond is going the other way - goals from turnovers.Comment

No, recruiting was flawed because we didnt win the flag since recruiting Tippett and Buddy, we went for it all and it didnt work.

Fair Dinkum - you sum up the club on 1 crap night. I am glad you are not running the club.Comment

Yes, but probably the thing that worries me the most, is whether he'll ever again get consistently above 85% fit.Comment
