Yes, I've been liking Knoll of late. And that was possibly Hirst's best quarter since he joined us. I also think that Amartey, Wicks, Rose, Pink, Melican and Stoddart have been doing well.
I also like the commentary team that do Qld games. Much better than the the pair that we often get doing the games in NSW. Umpires doing a pretty good job, too.

Whoops, forgot to mention McInerney; who's possibly been BOG.

Amartey is too classy for them.

Hirst has shown promise in this game. Some nice touches.

Great games from Rose, McInerney, Wicks, Knoll, Amartey, Pink, Stoddart and Hirst with four goals.

Wow! Hirst is seriously speedy. Not only that he seems to have footy smarts and a goal sense. How long since he joined us? A couple of months? It will be fun watching him develop.

He probably needs a couple more games like today, to stay on the list. Hopefully he can do that.

                      Swans 12.13 (85) Aspley 7.7 (49)

Interesting the NEAFL fixture has the next 2 games at Tramway Oval aka the Oval outside the SCG.

Sydney 12:13 Aspley 7:7 The Hornets were 4 points up at HT but got run over in the second half. I would not have had Melican as our best. Hirst very lively but very small. Rose and McInerney were standouts, Pink and Wicks very good along with Knoll and Amartey and Stoddart had his moments. Thurlow fairly quiet and did not see Ling do too much. Thorne good among the toppies.

We play the Demons on Friday and if I was a selector I would be giving Knoll a run against Gawn. Have got nothing to lose as Aliir, Reid and McLean have been thrashed the last few weeks in the ruck.

I wouldn’t have had Melican as the BOG but I thought he had a very solid game. He played with an intensity and confidence that has been missing for a while. Albeit he didn’t have to mark the opposition’s biggest and most threatening forward in Freeman who Pink totally blanketed.

The ruck rotation was interesting to watch. They started with Amartey in the ruck against Jake Spencer who is regarded as one of the better rucks in the NEAFL. Amartey may have lost the majority of the taps but his work around the ground made up for this. Knoll looked awkward at full forward but contributed by throwing his big frame around and completing some crunching tackles

The third quarter had Knoll in the ruck for the majority of that term and he outplayed Spencer IMHO. the other two quarters seemed to be shared evenly between Amartey and Knoll.

Hirst played mostly half forward and was damaging when he managed to get clear with his elite acceleration and pace. McInerney must have had his most disposals for the season today and while he did a lot of good things with the ball, he also wasted quite a few chances.

Rose kicked two amazing goals, with checking out if you can, but even beyond the goals he played with an intensity that was missing last week. Which is frustrating because it means he is capable of it but can't always put it out on the field

Wicks finally got another run in the midfield and again showed his tackling prowess. A slight criticism might be that he could use the ball better. Foot alternating between forward and wing had individual moments that made you sit up and take notice but still isn't getting enough of the ball

Ling played the last three quarters, started well but yet again struggled to get hand on the ball. Stoddart playing a similar role was much better, giving us plenty of run off halfback.

Thurlow again played wing, not sure what to make of his recent games out there. Was average at best

Shoutout to Kyle McKellar who kept Matt Payne reasonably quiet in a tagging role in the midfield. McKellar has played as a medium defender all year so it was surprising to see him in the midfield today but he did an accomplished job.

If Pink is a better defender than the Pelican then why isn't he getting a run in the AFL?

Agreed re Knoll. They conceded with McLean very early today.

Ling needs 4-6 games in a row before we can judge his ball-winning IMHO. He did tackle well. He seemed to limp out of his last tackle though. Hopefully just a knock.
