Iliotibial band. Which is a band of tendon, that runs from the iliac crest at the side of the hips, down the outside of the thigh, to the top of the tibia. If it is not functioning properly, it can cause pain by rubbing against the femur, or by decreasing the stability of the knee joint.

It's looking quite possible that Naismith might be one of those players whose body is constantly injured. I hope we are looking at bringing in a genuine ruckman somehow because the likelihood that we'll get a dozen games out of Naismith next year is very slim.

I still am disappointed we didn't at least enquire about Preuss last year. Can't believe he went to Melbourne to be a bench warmer behind Gawn.

Better to have stayed at Norf and be next in line to a nearly done Goldstein. Of all the clubs he could have chosen, Melbourne were the second worse choice, Pruess must be an idiot!

From the NEAFL presser, wouldn't hurt to give Amartey and Bell a senior game in the run home IMO.

Perris rued his side’s lacklustre attack on the footy in the 9.15 (69) to 8.7 (55) defeat at Giants Stadium, but Amartey produced an outstanding solo game.

The 197-centimetre, 96-kilogram Swan finished the match with 26 disposals, eight marks, six tackles, 28 hit-outs and a goal in the Sydney Derby XVIII curtain-raiser.

Perris, who also commended the performance of speedster James Bell (28 touches, eight tackles), wishes Amartey had been cloned for the cross-city clash.

“We probably would have liked to have two of him today – one in the ruck and one in the forward line, just because when he’s on he’s really aggressive and a really damaging player,” Perris told Swans Media post-match.

“He has been thrown around a fair bit this year and we’re still trying to work out what his best position is. When he’s up he’s got some serious physical attributes and he’s definitely shown that throughout the year and again today.

“He’s one of the few who can hold their head up high after today’s game. He really competed hard, he was good in the air and his follow-up work at ground level was really good.”

Bell’s 28 touches followed last week’s tally of 31, with the 20-year-old winning a stack of contested footy

Perhaps he wasn’t enjoying his time at North?

Maybe not but you'd then look at prospective homes and choose one that needed a first ruck because teams don't play two rucks now. So cross off Pies and Dees and work your way down from there, not choose a team that has one of the top two rucks in the game. Needless to say he hasn't been sighted much at senior level.

And whilst we're on it, Steven May leaves GC for a successful club, hahaha. Every chance last year was the abberation for the Dees and not this year? GC to rise next year.

Me neither. I'm interested in the relationship between it and the recovering ACL. John seemed a bit downcast about it at the presser. I guess we'll learn more tomorrow.
