I really love that they stream the games via the Internet. It’s great that I can use my smart tv to watch it on the big screen
Why is this game not being shown or replayed on NITV though?Comment

Stoddart and McInerney starting well
Amartey playing forward.
Pink cleaned up the goal umpire (umpire's fault for not moving)Comment

I thought that Stoddart was our best in that quarter. 12 possessions; each one of which he used really well. Young Kizza was also busy. McInerney also using it well. McLean clunked a few marks; which is the strong part of his game. He can take them at pace, with arms outstretched. Missed a couple of gettable shots, though. Possibly the highlight of the quarter, though, was Wicks taking down their ruckman; like a lioness taking down a wildebeest.Comment

I see that Amartey is getting some time in the ruck again as well as playing up forward. Maybe there is a chance he'll be selected as our ruckman next week, albeit a slim chance..Comment

I've been calling Stoddart to come into the senior side for some time now. We need a line breaker who can both run and kick us out of trouble in the back line. I hope his good form continues and forces the MC to pick him next week. He's great running the wing as well. Finds and hits targets in the forward line.

Knolls is not the answer to our ruck shortage. Amartey appears taller than his stated 197cm. He's a smooth mover and looks more the part than Knolls. Another option would be Pink in defence so Aliir can ruck and McCartain play forward. He's had a pretty good game and has progressed well as a tall defender this year.Comment

I suppose that the good news is that we regrouped and kicked away, after NT had got within two points. The bad news was that we let the bottom placed NT get within two points. Though the Darwin weather was probably an extenuating circumstance. I checked at full time: it was still 22 degrees and 83% humidity. No wonder some of our players collapsed in a heap, when the final whistle sounded.
Of our players, I thought that Stoddart was our best: 29 possessions, most of them creatively taking the game on and turning defence into attack. There was also a strong late effort up forward, were he fought hard under pressure, to get to a ground ball and tap it to advantage; which led to the final goal. The penultimate goal, was an excellent three bounce effort from Foot. Clarke was also important in that quarter. When NT got close, he seemed to take responsibility to arrest the slide and did so by getting three centre clearances in a row. He also topped the possession count. Wicks, as is often the case, topped the tackle count. Jack was another busy player. Academy player Pawle topped the goalkicking with three. Menzel got two. Though it was a fairly quite game from him, and probably didn't quite do enough to earn a recall. Amartey did plenty of classy things and looks more likely to fill the seniors ruck gap than Knoll. Pink and McKellar pretty good down back defensively, while McInerny provided some effective rebound, but probably more so in the first half.
Oh well, a win's a win.Comment

Best players: R. Stoddart, K. Jack, T. Pink, R. Clarke, M. Knoll, K. McKellarComment

There's usually one in the best players list that surprises me. This week it's Knoll. While some of tap work was good, especially to Clarke in the final quarter, much of his other work could be described as clumsy. Dropped plenty of marks and got in the way of others trying to mark.Comment

Johnny Pawle is a funny one. He's a great kick and has good hands, but you only see him when he's kicking goals. I wonder what he does the rest of the game. Looks to have a strong body too.
I wonder what happened to Josh Rayner. Last year some though he go as high as the 2nd round in this year's draft. He seems to have fallen of the cliff.
I figure Wicks gets another year on the Cat B list and we've already added Barry O'Connor. We'll probably take 1 academy player to fill our quota of 3, but hard to say who it will be.Comment
