You think I spewed when they recruited plastic fantastic tipoff, just watch me go off if they pick up plastics Daniher.
There'll be another 10,000 pages of uh-oh, he's injured again...
    Can't wait.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.

I doubt we would get much for Cameron either. If Cameron goes to the Pies, I expect that we'll get a future pick, possibly with a pick swap. It won't be earlier than the third round and we may have to give up a fourth-round pick with Cameron to get that.

No I haven't. And that's disappointing. It must be serious whatever it is that would make him want to leave his beloved Swannies.
And what's the stop us matching whatever offer that's been placed on the table to keep him (that's if it is just money)?

Or maybe the club could, with the AFL’s apparent blessing, set up an academy to develop local talent, spending millions of their sponsors’ money to do so because the AFL is either unwilling to spend its own money or unable to spend it effectively). Of course, if that were ever to happen, no doubt all those clubs who are beneficiaries of the “go home” factor would squeal about how unfair it was, and demand similar draft concessions but without actually needing to invest time, money or effort.

Pick 9 is so far leading for Papley (I voted he'll stay)
Pick 32 is leading for Jones (I voted future first pick)
Pick 11-20 is just leading for Daniher (I voted he must stay at all costs)
Pick 66 is leading for Darcy Cameron (I voted for Pick 35)
Pick 9 for Papley is unders. Remember, Sydney don't have to make the trade so Carlton must pay overs to get the deal done. At a minimum, Carlton may be tossing a future pick into the pot as well.

Pick 32 for Jones is not far off the mark. It won't be pick 32 though because that assumes St Kilda even has that pick (currently they don't). A future second-round pick is more likely to be a part of the trade.

Daniher is harder to assess given he's played only 11 games in two years and he's a RFA next year. A late first-round pick is my guess.

Pick 66 for Cameron is about right, but I expect it would be more complicated than that. Cameron plus pick 59 for a future third-round pick has about the same trade value.

He’s under contract. We don’t have to match anything. We can just hold him to his contract.

So if he’s really only after the money we can either just hold him to his current (presumably) cheap; offer him more (which some might consider mercenary - or fair, depending on your stance); or trade out a guy that doesn’t want to be there (if that’s the case)

The club doesn’t have to match anything. He’s contracted for the next two seasons (at least). Unless there are compassionate reasons that the club finds compelling, or trading Papley will help the club improve the list overall (in their opinion), they do need to do anything.

Just like Geelong can tell Kelly’s manager that they will offer him a new contract, trade him to Freo, or he can enter the draft and take his chances. Unless WC finds a top ten draft pick from somewhere and/ or is prepared to relinquish someone like Brander (and give up draft picks on top of him).

Clubs actually have slightly more power in these situations than they seem willing to acknowledge (or use).

This Joe Daniher business is starting to sound a lot like Jon Patton and Tom Scully to Hawthorn for next to nothing because of their injury history! At this rate a 3rd round pick will do it.

The most enjoyable bit of agro from a liz-ard since Blakey got into those Demon players. BIG RESPECT !!!!

On another subject, anyone know why there's been no Swan delistings yet?
                    Or have I missed them?

I thought I would add the Doc Larkins tweet on Daniher:

Does Daniher sound like a player we want under any circumstances. Won't we have enough trying to get Buddy, Menzel and Naismith right to play?

The forward line of the century: Franklin, Tippett and Reid? Are we ready for a replay of this one?

I hope the silence is the sound of sanity.

If his OP is still a problem after surgery, he's unlikely to gain full fitness. If he were okay, then Essendon would have a big contract extension in front him, but we don't see that, do we? I think they would love to offload him to any sucker that comes along, before everyone discovers next year that he can't play.

HPN says Daniher is worth a pick 27, or about our 2nd round pick. But after hearing Larkins, I wouldn't even give that for him. Let him play next year and prove what he can do. We are not in a position to give away top 10 picks for such a risky player acquisition. Harley Bennell sounds a better option and comes at a better price.

That should cancel the Papley hypothetical trade.

I wouldn't be giving away Cameron or Jones so fast either, but open to see the trade offer. Let's promise Cameron a half dozen games at the start of next season, fitness permitting. It's a better offer than competing with Maxon Cox for #2 ruckman.
It's an interesting point that Essendon might not be sitting on much. If he hardly plays next year his compensation would be minimal.

OP is a very common injury for most 360 degree sports

I had OP for 18months on and off in my late 20s

Very annoying injury but saw a specialist in melb who was working with a lot of AFL and Soccer and NRL players

I made a 95% recovery which was fine for training a few times per week and playing competitive AFL and Prem league Soccer on a weekend

Most professional Level athletes I knew would state they would be lucky to be at 80% through out a season

We also have Tucker, if not delisted, and Reynolds to recover from injuries.

If Bennell does come, it will be for one year at a low salary, so not much worry there.

I'm actually quite confident on Ling. His 2 injuries, toe ligament and plantaris tendon, are not signs of any long-term injury concern, but rather just a bit of bad luck. Reid had plantaris surgery last year and didn't miss a game this year.

If the hawks pick up Patton, Sam Frost and Jamie Elliot this trade period I would argue they have given themselves a serious rebuild via trades the last few years, rather then using 1st round draftees etc

                                Quite amazing

We really need to lift our game in my opinion because our 3 trades last year were ordinary

I know it is extremely challenging to pick up players in Sydney

Ie like the hawks have due to our past style of footy vs say an uncontested style under Clarkson coaching and also location being in melb so fairly easy to transfer clubs close by or go home factor

I’m really hoping our much more flexible approach to uncontested and contested footy is now appealing to a broader type of football player

                                Hawks rebuild:

                                Mitchell
                                Wingard
                                Scrimshaw
                                Henderson
                                Impey
                                Scully
                                O’Meara

Then Patton and Elliot and Frost !!!

Then no doubt they will 2021 start going back to complimenting via draft picks
