Sooner or later the dunces in the media will figure this out. Essendon may demand two first-round draft picks but they will NOT get them.

Two first round picks. Pick 10 and Carlton's 2020 first-round pick. If Carlton doesn't offer those then they should not bother.

Papley is worth that. How many first-round picks turn out to be duds that play fewer than 100 games? About half of them.
Joe Daniher absolutely not worth 2 first rounders

Don't even consider a deal on Papley unless there are two first rounders.

God bless the one eyed fans in trade month.

I'm dreaming but let's swap our first rounder for Gaff. WC need to put together a package if they want to entertain Kelly. We've traded fairly with WC in recent years. Somebody should tap Gaff on the shoulder to let him know his time is up in the west (and that he'd look better in red and white anyway).

          And he’s a pre-agent I like it.

This appears to confirm we'll be keeping him for next season at least.

"SYDNEY has been informed its star small forward Tom Papley wants to be traded to Carlton.

However, AFL.com.au understands the Swans intend to hold Papley, who is contracted until 2023, to his existing deal in the Harbour City."

The difference: Papley has a contract, played all 22 games this year, Carlton really, really want him and Sydney won't trade him unless Carlton pay overs. Daniher played four games this year, seven last year, may be considering his future in football, will be a RFA next year when he could be got for just the price of a contract and Sydney haven't publicly indicated much desire to get him this year. Hence the difference in price.

It's not a matter of "one-eyed fans" but a simple matter of practicalities. A fit, contracted player reaching the peak of his form has to be worth a lot more on the trade market than a player who has only played 11 games since 2017. If both were in the draft, who would you pick first?

To be fair, I once watched a Gold Coast game, and it’s hard to disagree. [emoji38]

Just for the sake of creating a diversion, does anyone think we could get Sier or Wills from the Pies in the Cameron trade? I think we could do with some backup in our ball winners and both are big solid types in the JPK mould.

Wills possibly as a straight swap.

Sier would require additional payment, perhaps Cameron + late second rounder we get from Saints (acquired via Bruce trade to WB).

I'd be happy with either scenario.

I'm probably the source of this rumour.

Is there a race for something that Carton are not in this year?

I hear what you are saying but if I had the chance to draft either of them right now it would be Daniher 10 out of 10 times because if there was a chance he will come back to full fitness for the remainder of his career then the payoff is far greater.

I heard Carlton have been linked to Rance, Neale, Ffye, Dangerfield, Buddy, Dusty, Cameron and Greene and are a chance to get them all..........

Cutler might not be a bad option. Obviously couldn't get a game in a strong Lions midfield in 2019 but is a 192cm midfielder which is the big bodied type mid we seem to want to follow on from Kennedy in a year or 2.

I myself would rather Constable if we could get him though.

I read somewhere that Constable is keen to stay at the Pussies.

No stories/quotes from Daniher seem to have come from the Bombers' B&F. Apparently he snuck into the event at the start to avoid the media. I think that we will know more by mid to late afternoon tomorrow. Then we can all get on with our lives!

I'm keen to find out what Barry expects the Swans to get for Papley, Jones and Cameron.
Jones is in his prime, and papley is approaching his prime. If we lose both those, we are officially a 'feeder' club.

Not sure we will get much at all for Cameron.
