I like this suggestionJust for the sake of creating a diversion, does anyone think we could get Sier or Wills from the Pies in the Cameron trade? I think we could do with some backup in our ball winners and both are big solid types in the JPK mould.
Wills possibly as a straight swap.
Sier would require additional payment, perhaps Cameron + late second rounder we get from Saints (acquired via Bruce trade to WB).
I'd be happy with either scenario.

I would have thought NSW having an interest on the day would have helped ratings. An all Victorian GF would have lost the interest of the biggest state

Disappointing so many players want to leave the Swans. And that since Buddy, it seems only also-rans want to come here.
Though maybe the numbers wanting to leave are similar to other clubs. I can't help thinking how important it is to
increase the numbers of Sydney & NSW born players. The more of them there are, the less the "go home" factor will effect us.Comment

The previous evening on the SEN Trade Radio segment I heard a Swans Supporter ask who the Swans could target (other than Daniher), which the host (Mitch Cleary?) suggested Tom Cutler, which when I saw the above Twitter headline next day made me connect the two together

HS poll asking readers to vote what picks will get trades done on players requesting or rumoured to be moving:
Category: | Herald Sun
Pick 9 is so far leading for Papley (I voted he'll stay)
Pick 32 is leading for Jones (I voted future first pick)
Pick 11-20 is just leading for Daniher (I voted he must stay at all costs)
Pick 66 is leading for Darcy Cameron (I voted for Pick 35)Comment

If we could just find ourselves our version of Henderson or Lyons I'll be happy.
We need reinforcements in the midfield. And not just some young kid who might be good in a few years. A solid, mature body, between the ages of 25-30 who just needs opportunity and won't cost the earth.Comment

With the likelihood of Cameron going to Collingwood, to be understudy to Grundy, I'm starting to see him as the next Daniel Currie. That is, a ruckman who seems very promising at a lower level, but for various reasons, never seems to play at the higher level.HS poll asking readers to vote what picks will get trades done on players requesting or rumoured to be moving:

Not far fetched to expect that all the Bombers hierarchy would've been putting the hard word on him to stay. And the whole romance of the B&F, I would expect him to stay. He's the bombers to lose, so if they were ever going to have a decent crack at convincing him to stay, it would have been last night. No stories/quotes from Daniher seem to have come from the Bombers' B&F. Apparently he snuck into the event at the start to avoid the media. I think that we will know more by mid to late afternoon tomorrow. Then we can all get on with our lives!

I agree that we need to focus on increasing the numbers of Sydney and NSW born players, but the true telltale sign is whether we can retain the young kids. Most of them have resigned. Jones was never going to stay with the Swans long term because he wants to be a rockstar like his brother.Disappointing so many players want to leave the Swans. And as much as Papley loves playing for the swans, he would be a superstar in Melbourne. And if the gf factor is true, how could she not have stars in her eyes and it would be foolish to think that she wouldn't be putting stars in his eyes too.
I'd be disappointed if he left for family reasons and it was the gf factor. More due to the fact they're not even married. But once you've become a WAG, you've hit the jackpot so she won't be going anywhere.
Anyway, I think we're in a good position with the young core we do have. Papley is great, but so was Shannon Grant when we had him. And Schnieds. we just find replacements and move on. The once a generational players are Heeney, Mills, Dawson, Blakey...and they've all committed to the swans. So we'll be right.
I'll finish with this. If Daniher doesn't want to leave the Bombers, we won't trade Papley to Carlton.Comment

I totally agree that Papley will not be traded if the Daniher deal does not eventuate. It's interesting that the Bombers have not yet offered Daniher an extension suggesting they are concerned about his recovery. I agree that a lot of people would have been into Joe last night. I suspect that he is a loyal type so it would not be easy for him to say he is going. In terms of Papley (who is not so loyal), I feel that his current contract is well below what he can get from Carlton and that is a key factor in why he is so "homesick" at present.I agree that we need to focus on increasing the numbers of Sydney and NSW born players, but the true telltale sign is whether we can retain the young kids. I'd like to see a team stay in the Gold Coast. But instead of GC. Why isn't the AFL looking at Southport? They have a huge fanbase, they're a rich club and they are a professional unit! It's a no brainer.Comment
