Daniher is a serious talent and we will be spending next years first pick on our academy boys anyway so it doesn’t make any difference

Don’t disagree with your sentiment but I think you’ll find Jones $ are being used for Daniher

Daniher and Bennell will just be replacing Grundy and McVeigh and Jack and Smith and Tucker and probably Cameron in rehab.

I still don’t get how it’s a sure thing that we can draft the 2 academy boys without having our first pick ?

Wonder if O riordan could play midfield - very quick and has played there in NEAFL. Like him as a player. McInerney HBF?

Also I agree on the talent part, I witnessed it first hand on Anzac Day this year . Didn’t see it again this year though . Rare talent , rarely on the park

"The club acknowledges the reason behind this request from Joe, however he is a contracted player to the Essendon Football Club," its list manager Adrian Dodoro said.

"He is a very highly regarded player at our club and we have advised Joe that ultimately we want him playing for the Bombers in 2020."

These are the words I needed to hear, Dodo will play such hard ball that we'll relent and let Joe stay at Essendon for 2020 and revisit it as an RFA next year. Please let this eventuate, be good for us, and a nice smear for Dodo! Do not cave in Swans, be prepared to walk away.

His pros are: hard at the ball, ability to explode away from the pack, tough tackler, elite endurance and good leadership qualities. His cons: erratic (but improving) kicking and sometimes getting caught out of position.
Does anyone know if he's related to Swans John Rantall?
As I started reading your post there was a report on 7 news about Rantall and another player Jackson who both switched from basketball. There was no mention of John Rantall so they're probably not related. (When my dad saw his name he asked the same question).

100%. We don’t need Joe next year . We’re not challenging for a flag next year. And if he wants to come to Sydney so bad he can do so the following year for a cost of 0 in draft picks for us . Let’s offer fair compensation ( one first round pick ) considering , and if dodo doesn’t like it well enjoy your end of first round compo pick next year pal !

Very exciting. Hope we can get this deal done, will be a major coup.

No need to be a toss about it, someone asked what we could be giving up. I would’ve thought the equivalent from last year would be a pretty decent indication

They are still 12 months away from drafting, who knows what might happen during that time. For all we know they might drop off the radar all together (see Rayner this year).

If they don’t then 2 2nd round picks is going to be a good start. If we still need more points we can deal next year

I specifically asked for the realistic alternative. 2018's draft picks don't represent a realistic alternative in 2019.

Patton to Hawks for third round is a pretty reasonable equivalent. And yes, I know it's a salary dump but so is Daniher as well (he's on 900k / year).

Personally I think bombers are playing this much better than GWS. They are making out that Daniher is very much wanted ( if he was, why have they not re-signed him? ) so as to extract the maximum from us. GWS should've done the same with Patton as the Hawks really wanted him.

So I wonder what Time Kelly is worth? Or Brodie Grundy for that matter.
